Does anyone know how the GM buy back program works? I have a new 2004 2500HD with chronic problems with the LLY DMax. I already have a case number assigned by GM customer service.

Do they buy the truck back and give me cash or give me a new truck of like kind? This is the first Dmax I have owned, I am not sure I want another Chevy.

Here is the issue with my truck....

I have a new 2004 2500HD Dmax (LLY) that I bought to pull a 12,000# fifth-wheel. The truck only has 3,000 miles on it and has already had the EGR valve and the TURBO replaced. I am now having trouble with the engine cutting out or bogging down under a load (with fifth wheel attached) when pulling up a grade. Eventually the issue clears up but the engine does not have much power immediately following the issue. Then eventually that clears up as well. The problem is very intermittent and never happens when running empty.

Have any of you guys seen this problem before? I have an appointment at the dealer on Monday to have it looked at.

There is at least two other persons who has similar issues (with the turbo). This is what has been posted on The Diesel Page:

I hope this helps. Usually on a buyback, they will give you cash back minus some amount for the mileage you used the vehicle for.Edited by: OC_DMAX

I would assume it would be just like Ford's process which I just went through (if leaving Chevy, I cant say I would recomend Ford...). Basically your vehicle needs to meet the Lemon Law criteria for your state. If it does so then they will buy it back. Others (MANY) on thedieselstop.com have had theirs bought back without meeting the Lemon Law criteria.

I had a case number assigned to my '03 Sierra by the GM customer service people. When they informed me that they were not going to fix the problem, I contacted the Better Business Bureau Auto Line. In just 24 hours after filing a complaint with BBB Auto Line, I received a call back from GM and they were then able to resolve the problem. BBB Auto Line can be found at www.lemonlaw.bbb.org (http://www.lemonlaw.bbb.org) http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

groten!!!!!!

I too may be heading down the buy back road. Transmision problems (twice) in the first 4 weeks with less than 1,700 miles. In the shop now. I contacted the owner of the dealer and told him to find me a new one that works and he can have mine. Not sure they know what causes the problem. The c solenoid keeps going out and truck will not shift out of first gear. Problem starts in reverse when I'm backing up. Tranny surges or lurches and then wont shift out of first when I put it in drive. They offered me a free 100,000 warranty on tranny. Told them I wanted a new truck and not the lemon I have.

Would be interested in your outcome, so please keep updated post as I will do the same.

I can give ya details if you send me an email dlconstruction@cox.net

GM is replacing my 04 that had engine problems that couldn't be fixed. Looks like I will be getting a 05 when they come out.
