In an attempt to trouble shoot why my starter isn't working, my day went from bad to worse. My instrument cluster died. With the switch in the ON position there are no lights in the dash, no "check engine", no "WAIT TO START", no nuttin. The headlights, power seats, power windows, radio, and ac blower do work. I checked for bad battery connections and bad grounds. Other than the ignition stwitch, what could be the problem?

If the battery voltage is too low it may cause problems for the cluster.

Double check the fuses too.

Also disconnect both batteries for a few to reset the ECM.:)

First I want to thank you guys for quick replies. The truck is located 1.5 hours away and I really don't want to have to pay for an 80 miles tow bill.

I had 4 batteries and a charger hooked up to it (trying to get the starter to turn), so it's not low voltage. The fuses under the hood and in the side of the dash are good.

Could the ignition switch be the problem or is that out of the question? Could it be the ECM? I'm out of my league with this one.
