hey guys, just finnished changing the fprv on my 01 lb7. had a lopey idle then found diesel in the oil. had new injectors put in under warranty at the dealer. idle got worse. took it upon myself to change out the fprv. this was not a fun job. once you get to the fprv it is really difficult to get the torx head bolts out. they have a tendancy to strip out before they break loose. hopefully i wont have to do this again. the good news is the fprv fixed the lopey idle.

What are the torx head bolts you refer too? I hate to hear that it's a pain job. I did locate the PRV today and see it's a little burried under the glow plug controller. I just wish I could make one mod on my truck that did not involve busted knuckles.

there are three bolts that hold the fprv to the pump. they take a tx25 torx bit. go ahead and take the rubber fuel lines loose above and behind the fprv thats the only way. i used a long tx25 bit and bit extinsion and turned them out with a 1/4 in. wrench. it wasnt any fun and one stripped so i used a chisel and hammer to get it to turn out. good luck!!!

You guys are talking two different things.
The FRPCV (fuel rail pressure control valve) is what he changed.
The FRPRV (fuel rail pressure relief valve) is what you shim in an LLY. No one shims that on an '02.
