<DIV>Guys:

I have seen postings by GM mechanics. Perhaps, you can give me your opinion. I have 2001 Duramax over 190,000. It smoks pretty bad, mosty while idling. Dealer said they did leak test of fuel injectors and they are fine. They stated that cylinder 4 and 8 has 50psi less ther others. Dealer says other cylinders 300psi. Recommended engine replacement. Dealer admitted they do not know if rings bad or velves. Other diesel machanics (never worked on Duramax ) told me that perhpas timing is off, and 25% differens in compersion should not cause bad smoking. They question dealer's assesment. Can timing be adjust on Duramax? Is a leak test sufficient for fuel injectors problem? Dealer does not want to replace fuel injectors claiming it would not help.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif</DIV>

It is not very dark. It is kind of the same color as regular exhauste but much more. It does not smoke when cold, and it starts to smoke gradually more when is getting warmer. It smokes the most when reaches regular working temp.

So I guess it's just a grayish color ??

Have them do a balance check on the injectors see what they come up with ....
