Is there any stickers or documents on the truck that tells the weight from the factory? My Kodiak is a 2004. Currently changing state regs. but they need weight from the factory. Know of any links from GM I can use? Need weight for cab and chassis. With bed, tanks, and toolboxes I weigh close to 11K#. I think factory weight is around 8K#. State charges fees by the weight. Any suggestions Thanks, John

John, are you sure they do not want the GVWR or the actual weight of the truck now? I would think the base weight would be pretty far off the actual and if you were to be weighed and found out of your class seems that would generate some issues. Check with Smokey and see what they wanted from him for his Peterbilt. I assume you are changing to South Dakota.

Hey Tab, they need the actual weight. Ohio needed it too. I was just lucky I knew the person filling out the paperwork. She guessed the weight at 8K. The South Dakota people need a number for the cab and chassis weight too. 8K sounds like a good number. John

Thanks Everyone, my 4500 weighs 10800#. What the BMV needs is chassis weight from the factory. I will go with 8K# and see what happens. Thanks again, John

Most states that require the actual weight of the truck (current) provide you with certified scales from which you can get a weight ticket. They most likely are asking for a factory weight because they are not considering that anything has been added. In Florida we are required the same information. My truck, for an idea, weighs 11800#. But hey, if they're willing to charge fewer taxes, go for it!!!
