I've got an '04 2500HD with buckets in front and that center storage consol between the seats that opens from the top by depressing a little handle. On some older (pre '04) silverado's as well as tahoe's and suburbans I have seen a keyhole next to the little handle to lock this storage compartment.

Is there any way to swap one of these in, in place of mine so I can lock things in? Maybe order a locking lid from Chevy? anyone know? thanks.Edited by: colletti

99-02 had this. I'm not sure if they would be interchangable or not. They really did not off much security.

I pulled mine out and replaced it with a Tuffy Security Console. Works great. Secure for personal stuff. Nice arm rest.

You might want to consider the truck vault that goes inside that console. It is suppose to be fairly safe. Hard to get in if you need something in there when your keys are in the ignition though.
