I want a tune that when i hit the switch will smoke like nothing you have seen before. does anyone have any thing done like this or have some ideas on how to get it done

i, too would like a tune like that. if you've seen the pulling videos on crankitup diesel or any other sled pulling videos for that matter, thats what i'm looking to do. i know it wont have the power of a tune meant for power, and i know efficiency will suck, but sometimes you just want it to billow black smoke.

anyone have a tune liek that?

Its hard to write a tune like that because you run the risk of washing down the cylinder walls. I would not recomend it. My big tune smokes like crazy but it make lots of power too.

Just increase the Main injection Pulse to 4000 from 60 mm3Per stroke up to 100mm3per stroke / and over to 190 it'll smoke!!!!!

I think the ultimate goal would be white to black with a big swirl in the middle as your truck moves out of it:ro)

i guess tripping does have some black showing on the right side. need to look a little closer next time

It's hard to tell how much it'd smoke on your truck. I have dual lift pumps supplying fuel. If you tried one of my tunes you'd probably not have near the results that I have.

I have the Edge w/ attitude and if you set the low boost fuelling to 5 it leaves a cloud of black soot so bad you can't see the cars behind you when you hit it at a light. I love doing that not to mention when their windows are open or it's a convertible next to me oh ya!

I'd actually like to add a "How to tune for Smoke" to the Tips & Tricks thread because this topic gets talked about quite regularly - do one of you guys want to put in writing some rough guidlines to help other users?

Oh, yes it is Trippin's truck - it was such a shame it cost a full set of new tires :o: and with the smoke in the cabin, it nearly cost a full detail after someone went to extinguish the "fire"....ooops!:badidea:

I know with one of my old tunes I could make 2 lanes of traffic disappear behind me when I stepped on it. It really wasn't a good tune at that point for other reasons.

It's fun to make headlights go out at night.:D

go into the reposity and download the 150hp tune it smokes on my lly out both stacks liek ive never seen before, ive had people behind me stop in the road cause they cant see. awsome

It's hard to make a pure smoke tune that won't blow away 4th and 5th in the tranny. You can get a good smoke tune for 1st, 2nd & 3rd if you focus on the lower right of the main injection table as well as step up the throttle base. You may need to change the baro limit table (not sure what it's called).

LLY guys can check out what citt1991 posted MAF flow tables. They create a lot of smoke if you play with them.

imo i just think people dont want to give these tunes out because its not really good for our trucks

The best way to make smoke is to stack a tuner and a plug in box running the 2 on the kill level. :)

I would say the smoke tune in question pretty much takes care 2/3rds of these items. ):h All you need to do is pull the intercooler boots to take care of the other.:stirthepo

So here is what I need. Ol lady wants some smoke out of her stacks (she has an 02 DMax w/ stock alli.) and I know we need to keep it under 80-100 extra wheel hp to keep her from limping. SO how should I go about creating a tune that is smokey in 1-3 (she wants to be able to puff little back when she passes a Cummins or Ford that puffs a little at her - kind of a redneck/diesel truck way of saying "Hey!") but tame enough to not limp in 4-5?

on a lly 2206 should work if you do this just like any tables you change
do small changes one thing at a time useally

take a 1 pound off your boost if you want to try it
timing by half degree increments -0.5* not the whole table
add 5% at a timem to main pulse b0720 b0721 - not the whole table
or add a little bit to your TBIQ 1 mm3 per row above 10% and 1800 rpm


when doing this adjust the bottem right corners anything above 80mm3
and 1600 rpm dont adjust 10mm3 or less than 1000 rpm in any tables
for now anyway

WATCH YOUR EGTS! and have fun

PS i would add fuel before reducing boost and timing
