Im thinking of installing nitrous in my truck, but will the sudden surge of power at WOT have any side affects on the transmission? Will it cause the tranny to shift into an even lower gear?

Not sure how it would behave on an 01. You might want to consder a race TCM since you will likely only use nitrous at the track?

ohhh yes. Your trans will be smoked if you spray nitrous with a stock trans. Also...what tune/chip/whatever are you running?? Just spraying nitrous into the engine is not going to do anythng if the engine is stock. You need more fuel or a "chip" of some sort for the nitrous to do anything

im just running everthing stock except for the exhaust. Im still new to diesels; i read a lot about them, but dont get to work with them a lot so you'll have to forgive me. i was kinda hoping that i wouldnt have to get into anything too serious with the tranny. at most a transgo, but if most n2o2 bottles add only 50hp(advertised), why do i need to uprade my tranny?

try it out and report back ):h

if you have fuel, nitrous will add a LOT more than that.

Your upgrade priority should be:

Trans, then more power via any number of tuning on the market. That will put you to 500hp then you could go with nitrous from there if you want,.

Save the nitrous until you're done with the tuning. You can pick up well over 100hp with a chip/programmer and over 200hp if you help pump the motor some extra fuel. By the time you're over 100hp you'll need an aftermarket trans anyways.

benNitrous will still give additional power to a stock motor.

yeah but it doesn't really make sense when you can add a power adder for cheaper and not have to fill the bottle.
