Tech's,

Did a search on this here, but no info.

I'm wanting to purchase a code reader (not a Tech ll) and their requirement is for the vehicle to be "OBD ll Compliant". I can not locate a sticker under my hood saying that it is. Is it compliant? Will a code reader work on my truck? Anyone know? Thanks! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Yes, our snap-on scanner here at work will read ANY '96 and newer under "generic". If it reads OBDII vehicles, it will read a DMAX.

Make sure it can "CLEAR" codes also. Some scanners only
"scan" codes...

Thank you Kevin!

FYI:

I'll now answer my own question for anyone else interested.

I've now spoken with a Federal and two State of CA EPA persons in regards to my question. Normally on a gasser there is a emissions sticker that also states that it is OBD ll compliant. Since our diesels are not under an emissions requirement yet, but will be one day soon, this type of sticker is not there.

Because our trucks are considered Med. Duty Diesels, there will be a different type sticker on the radiator support or on the valve cover. I found mine on the left (passenger side), right on the Bosch electronic module. Read down about halfway, "OBD ll compliant."

Now I'm probably on the Federal & State EPA watch list!!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
