Has anyone used the NEW designed shaft from Merchant and if so hows it holding up..Dealer replaced mine @ 21,400 miles. 38,450 and its back. I know of the grease kit but, wanting a permenant fix.

Sometimes it's not always the I.S. that causes your steering problems. They replaced my shaft twice didn't fix the problem, they replaced the lower steering shaft bearing and bingo fixed;)

Well I had it replaced under warranty, but now it is out. whats the chances of them still covering their warr work?:confused:

Same thing happened on my 03'. They said the parts carried a year warranty on them. Of course when I checked it had been just over a year. :(
Bought the lube kit for $15 and its fixed for now.

If your still under warranty they should cover it. Make them check the whole steering mechanism to see if it isn't something else causing your problems.

Well went to the dealer yesterday, The told me about the latest and greatest grease and would re-lube the previously new int shaft. Upon picking the truck up I read the bill, It stated the prior person that installed the new shaft a year ago overtorqued the nut and the shaft was not re-greaseable. So they installed a new shaft with the new fangled grease. All looks good huh.
WELL I got 4 miles from work this a.m (5:30) and I lost power steering and brakes. Milked it into the parking lot scared ****less. Lifted the hood up and to what did I see. A frikin power steering line blown off.. Now a little advise please, Is the pump, or steering box shot. And should I insist they replace ???HELP
