Driving down the highway about 74mph. Motor just starts banging away under hood for about 30 seconds or so. I ease up on the throttle no change. Push back on the throttle to keep from getting run over, go button works, but still no change in loud banging soud under hood. Finally, after about 30 seconds clears itself and hasn't returned. Loud, like, loud enough to wake the wife from sleep, loud. It just started clattering like I broke something. Kinda spooky. Any ideas?

My 2004 did the same thing twice, called gmtech assist, they had no idea. The owner of the dealer I work for said his demo did it several times, real bad almost like the turbo came apart. He stopped at a auto parts store and bought some diesel fuel additive with injector cleaner in it and put it in is tank,He drove it for another 5600 miles and has never missed a beat since.I bought some and put in my tank and have not had any other problems yet. cross our fingers tmartin

Thanks, I was wondering if everyone went on vacation. Will try that. Just don't really understand putting additive in all the time.

You are not alone, I think thats the 3rd. post regarding something along those lines. I would at least take it to the dealer and let them look at it. If nothing else it will get put in the books in case something comes up down the road.

My LLY did that with less than a 100 miles on it. The dealer says, "Huh, never heard of that before!" Posted it as a question here, and was told that is the sound a diesel makes as it goes thru the sound barrier.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif Have over 10K miles now and haven't heard it since. I just stay away from the sound barrier.

you dont have to put it in all the time,gm engineer call me today for the dallas area, said once every few thousand miles wiil ok,it helps lube injectors as well as cleans them, heck the stuff is cheap, what could it hurt
