Idle_Chatter 06-23-2004, 07:47 AM Florida is my home - I work on the road as a consulting engineer and in addition to driving at least 20-25,000 miles per year and relocating twice per year I spend time in "non-sunshine states." I bought my 4x4 diesel for the power, capacity, longevity and utility. It's been to winters in Wisconsin and upstate New York as well as many locations east of the Mississippi. I usually make a utility trailer pull to Texas (San Antonio) every September as well as two weeks towing home to Florida every February. Currently in north central Ohio. My truck is at 32 months and 84,500 miles. Perfect choice for me and I plan to drive it for a long time to come.
Wickedsprint 06-23-2004, 11:00 AM I got mine inflorida knowing I was moving up to wyoming in a year.
DinoMax 06-23-2004, 12:35 PM I'm a born & raised Floridian. I bought mine because I just like the way a 4X4 looks. I occasionally use 4WD while hunting, but not often. They are not worth less here. It seems a lot of people buy 4X4's here to lift and mod, and a lot of people use 4WD to pull boats in/out of the boat ramps, etc. They are not any harder to find here as anywhere else. And, yes, I bought it because it was a diesel. DinoMaxhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

#1 If you own one why do you need on in the sun-shine state
Because I wanted a 3x4 rather than a 1x4.
#2 Are they hard to come by
Not really
#3 Are they worth less
Trucks usually have a good resale value in Florida or Flodiada.
#4 Is there one in ever car lot
No.
#5 did you buy it just for the diesel
OH YEA.
I am a damned Yankee who moved to Florida this winter. The 4X4 comes in very handy in the deep sugar sand we have down here. I use 4WD several times a week.
The diesel is a must down here as gasoline is 20-30 cents a gallon higher than diesel fuel. Everything is "20 miles away", so you do a lot of driving to get to anything. Heck the town I live in doesn't even have a McDonaldshttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif.
I have made 4 trips between Ohio and Florida since December, and need to make several more. The economy of diesel and lower price for fuel make it a win-win situation.
Just about every pickup in Florida is a 4X4. You really have to look hard to find a 2WD.
