I have the stock box (cheesed out) with a stock filter. Has anybody changed the intake tube on their trucks? I noticed AFE has a kit to do this and was wondering if there was any changes in the turbo spooling up faster and if the turbo whistle was louder.

Thanks

I have a buddy with an '05 LLY and he has the AFE intake and filter. He says that it helps the turbo to spool up faster, but I cannot tell the difference versus my stock airbox setup.

I'm in the process of making up my own tube to mate with my stock airbox. I'll post up my findings when I finish it....hopefully next week.

I just bought the AFE torque tube (already had the PG7 filter in the stock airbox). I can hear the turbo more now, throttle response is a little bit better from the seat of the pants feel. It's not a huge difference but I still feel it was money well spent...

pesty3782,

This is a mod we sell a lot to folks that want a nice improvement and still want to keep the upgrade at a low cost. The PG7 drop in filter and a Torque Tube make a difference in spool up and sound level. If you have any questions on it let us know.

check out my thread fom a few weeks back, titled custom intake pipe or something like that. I made a 4" ss intake then dropped in PG7 drop in filter and chessed the box. It did improve the whistle to where i could at least hear it if i put the passenger window down. I think im going to try a cone filter setup to see if that will get me some more sound...
