A while back I had told all of you about my new injector pump and when I recieved my truck back I had no power and black smoke, well after reviewing all that I could on the boards Quantim mechanic and others wrote about the restriction and poor exhaust system on the 6.5 . The dealer rechecked his work and stood there scratchinh his but told me I nedded a new turbo and vacume pump and $2500.00 Well I got home and undid the turbo got another one on and took the vacume pump off completely, and while I had the turbo off noticed all the sooit from the smoke. I desconected the exhaust pipe before the cataletic converter and got my power back and no more black smoke. I have orderd the Banks exhaust system and hope I will be totaly satisifed. Question, do I need to plug the line that came off the vacume pump, I had noticed that the check enjine light had came on.

Do you have a turbomaster on the turbo? If not, you need the vacuum pump on it.

Do you have an EGR system on your truck?

I had a buick 3800 supercharged. It ran bad (surged)for no apparent reason and I sold it and the guy told me when he put a new catalytic on
it ran like new. It seems compressor fed engines are sensitive to exhaust restrictions.
Which is why an 8" exhaust is practical for turbo diesels.Edited by: quantum mechanic
