But it does say they are not "defueling" the Dmax for 07+, and the diesel will be the "hipo" engine of the GM truck line again.

What really caught my eye is the 353HP claimed for the 6.0 gasser.

Impressive.

But are the internals of the Lmm the same as the LBZ?

As is the newly standard six-speed tranny. In fact, so much so that if gasoline prices stay way below diesel fuel prices, only those who routinely tow the heaviest loads will really be able to justify the soon-to-be $10,000 higher pricetag of the D/A combo (compared to the base 353hp 6.0L gas / six-speed 6L90 auto).

On the other hand, maybe the aftermarket will come up with a way to add grilling functionality to the new DPF's regeneration mode... just lay out your burgers and brats on the handy third-party broiler tray, and then drive the truck over them!

Update:
The 2500HD specs lists the LY6 6.0L VORTEC V8 as having 353hp @5400 rpm
The 3500 specs lists the LY6 6.0L VORTEC V8 as having 312hp @4400 rpm

I guess both ratings could be true in both cases, but I wonder why they'd intentionally under-rate the 6.0L engine on the 3500 but not the 2500HD?

Also, the 4.10 axle ratio appears to be gone; 3.73 is standard for both the 6.0L gas & 6.6L diesel.

I wonder what rpm's the 6.0 will be turning at 65mph with the six speed? With the four speed mine is turning between 2000 and 2100 at 65 which kills my mileage.

In addition to the taller top gearing, the 2007 6.0L gas HDs will have a 3.73 axle ratio instead of 4.10, decreasing the total reduction in top gear.

4L80/4L85 Fourth gear (0.75) & 4.10 axle = 3.075
6L80 Sixth gear (0.67) & 3.73 axle = 2.499

That will reduce cruising revs from 2,000rpm to 1,625rpm.

For reference:

2006 4L80/4L85 Four-speed Auto. ( MT1/MN8 ), with LQ4 6.0L Vortec Gas V8
Axle Ratio: 4.10
Trans. ratios: -- Total Ratio ... (max. torque @ rear axle)
First: 2.48 ------ 10.168 ........ (3,660)
Second: 1.48 ---- 6.068 ........ (2,184)
Third: 1.00 ------ 4.100 ........ (1,476)
Fourth: 0.75 ----- 3.075 ........ (1,107)

2007 6L90 Six-Speed Auto. ( MYD ), with LY6 6.0L Vortec Gas V8
Axle Ratio: 3.73
Trans. ratios: -- Total Ratio ... (max. torque @ rear axle)
First: 4.03 ------ 15.032 ........ (5,607)
Second: 2.36 ---- 8.803 ........ (3,283)
Third: 1.53 ------ 5.707 ........ (2,129)
Fourth: 1.15 ----- 4.290 ........ (1,600)
Fifth: 0.85 ---- -- 3.171 ........ (1,183)
Sixth: 0.67 ------ 2.499 ......... (..932)

2006 Allison 1000 Six-speed (MW7), with L18 8.1L Vortec Gas V8
Axle Ratio: 3.73
Trans. ratios: -- Total Ratio ... (max. torque @ rear axle)
First: 3.10 ------ 11.563 ........ (5,203)
Second: 1.81 ---- 6.751 ........ (3,038)
Third: 1.41 ------ 5.259 ........ (2,367)
Fourth: 1.00 ----- 3.730 ........ (1,679)
Fifth: 0.71 ---- -- 2.648 ........ (1,192)
Sixth: 0.61 ------ 2.275 ........ (1,024)

2006 Allison 1000 Six-speed ( MW7 ), with LBZ 6.6L Duramax diesel
Axle Ratio: 3.73
Trans. ratios: -- Total Ratio ... (max. torque @ rear axle)
First: 3.10 ------ 11.563 ........ (7,516)
Second: 1.81 ---- 6.751 ........ (4,388)
Third: 1.41 ------ 5.259 ........ (3,419)
Fourth: 1.00 ----- 3.730 ........ (2,425)
Fifth: 0.71 ---- -- 2.648 ........ (1,721)
Sixth: 0.61 ------ 2.275 ........ (1,479)

Note that since GM decided to not offer a manual transmission in their GMT900 full-size pickups, they did at least provide a very low first gear in the new 6L90 six-speed auto.

I noticed that the now-discontinued 8.1L apparently had a 3.73 axle ratio with the Allison in the 2500HD, but a 4.10 axle ratio in the 3500.

All of that is great but from what I read on the gm media website is the Silverado 3500s maxium towing capacity is still going to be 16500 lbs... The Ford still blows the Chevy and Dodge away in max towing with 18000 + lbs....

If figured Chevy would have up the towing capacity with the new trucks...

If you also notice ferd is making the F450 more "mainstream", ie they're adding it to the "regular" F series line. It BETTER have more towing cap than a 3500.

Keeping my 02 for 2 main reasons....
1) Looks a LOT better than the GMT900's
2) Big Block

It looks like the 8.1 gasser is dead. Is it me or in the LMM pictures is the exhaust pipe welded pieces of converging/diverging pipe......something like a tuned exhaust?

At the Texas State Fair they had a ford guy talking how the super duty had a GCW of 26k. It took me a while to figure out it was a f450 as ockgator said they are making it more mainstream. just tryin to out do the competition. But man did I like seeing the new 900's up close and personal:ro) . The coolest thing is the D-Max goes up in power for 07 and cummins gets bigger and less power

You mean "the Cummins gets bigger and more power".

That's true if you're comparing the specs for the Cummins in the 2007 Dodge 3500 chassis cab to the Cummins in 2006 Dodge 2500/3500 pickup truck. The engine in the chassis cab is derated because Dodge reasonably concluded that not too many commercial users will be taking their chassis cabs to the drag strip.

However, the most powerful version of the new & larger Cummins does have slightly less power & torque than the new LMM.

Specs:

2006 Dodge 2500/3500 pickup, 5.9L Cummins: 325 hp / 610 lb-ft torque

2007 Dodge 3500 Chassis Cab, 6.7L Cummins: 305 hp / 610 lb-ft torque

2007 Dodge 2500/3500 pickup, 6.7L Cummins: 350 hp / 650 lb-ft torque

and if you look at the 1500, it is rated at 367hp, seems they detuned each one a little bit between 1500, 2500, 3500

Hey 921500Z71 The Ford F350 Dually "Tow Boss" has a 26000# GCVWR!! I have a friend that has one. They do it by putting a 4:30 rear end in it. It also has an intregal brake controller which works great. I still hate Fords

They do... C4500 Kodiak, RPO GZX. From http://www.gmfleet.com:

"GZX17,500 lbs. (7938 kg) capacity - GCWR limited to 26,000 lb. (11,794 kg) (Requires FM7 front axle and HD2 rear axle)"
