When i get off E-way and come to stop sign the engine will rev before trans comes in hard. Any one know what it could be,it has happend 2 times. Thanks

How fast are u going and are u decelerating quickly?


If u are slowing real hard the truck could be downshifting to help u slow down.


Going down long hills and hitting the brakes will make it downshift w/o it being in T/H mode or pulling trailer.

Dmax Tim : not slowing down fast.Running about 75 on eway,and not pulling any thing. It was a long exit ramp so about 45 before stop.

Things like this are tough to diagnose over the phone or internet. I happened to notice my truck downshifting Sat. after running hard for 20 miles and as I was coming down the offramp gradually, I was feeling my downshifts as if I had a stick. If in fact that is what you felt also I would not worry. Remember the Ally is a big truck transmission and it is suppose to do big truck things like doiwnshift with authority. Sometimes they do get weird. I don't think any of us have totaly figured them out including Allison.

What year truck ?? If it's a 01 there is a TCM reflash to correct this ...

It was a long time ago but just tell the dealer you have a delayed 2 1 downshift and there is a TSB for a TCM reflash corrective measure ....

My tranny does the same thing, like it almost goes into neutral when I get off the freeway - right around 45 mph. my truck is an early 2004.
