I am seriously considering purchasing a Chevy 04 Crew Cab D/A (LLY). As far as I can tell it has all the options other than the DVD for the kids. It has 7800 miles and looks to be in great shape. The dealer (It's on a GM/Caddy/Acura lot) is asking $41,400+- out the door. At first glance it looks like a good option since sticker (not including fees) was 48K+ 7800 miles ago.
Two questions? (That I can think of now..)
1) Is it worth it, or should I look for a better deal on a new one? There aren't many D/A Crew Cab, LT's in my area.
2) If I agree to buy, what are things I should beware of as far as defects that may have driven the owner to trade it so soon?
Great Site. I've monitored it for a while now (since I decided I made a mistake in 2001 buying a similar truck with the 8.1). It's a heck of a resource for prospective owners.
Any advice is appreciated.

Too much $$$... That's about what it "cost" new! It's not "new" anymore. Throw 37K at 'em. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif Edited by: Rippem

I agree, thats what happened to me, I wanted to buy used to save $. And the only one I could find with what I wanted had 4,500 miles. There best price was 2k more than the same truck brand new, and I got the color I wanted! It has been three months and the dealer still has that used truck, the dealer I bought my new truck from sold all four Dmaxs they had at the time I bought mine in several weeks. I drive through once a week to see if they still have my old truck--and they still do! LOL! Still has the coolant puddle under it!--you would think they would atleast fix that!

Bought mine LT with just about everything in January for $38,100 and had a sticker price of $48,600+; based on what I paid for mine new, it would be worth $36-$37,000.

If you can get them down to $36,000 then get the VIN and have some guys on the board run them to find out the service record / or ask the dealer for the printout of the service record. Also, make sure it isn't a flood / or wrecked vehicle.

Thanks Guys,
I've requested a VIN check to be sure I'm not buying someone elses problem and plan to offer 36K to the dealer if the check doesn't reveal any issues.
I'll post the results.

Good luck with the negotiating. If you can't get it for $36,000, no big loss, buying a new one for a few thousand more with the financing available through GM will be a really good deal too. If you were going to pay cash, invest the cash and take the low interest rate and you will be money ahead when it's paid for.
