What is the benefit of going with the turbo back exhaust, that Kennedy sells, versus going with the front pipe back that MBRP makes? I am trying to determine if the additional cost of the turbo back is worth it? Can anyone tell me? Thanks!

from what i recall thay are boath the same thay jsut call the same part something diferent. nobody other than TTS makes a true turboback exhaust system( please some one corect me if i got that wrong)
what prity much every system out ther conects up to the factory down pipe where the V band clamp is right behind the front passanger side tire .
there is alot of confusion about the parts anda sticky should be made
i dont have a diagram but it prity much goes like this....
Turbo-donwpipe-frontpipe-Cat.-some pipe-muffler-tailpipe
im kinda wired right now and hope i kinda helped. i know some one els will exsplan better

you are wrong. But thats ok. MBRP makes bot a 4 inch and a 5 inch turbo back or "Off-road" exhaust system. search mbrp, you will find a lot.

No you are wrong:
DO YOU MAKE A TURBO DOWN PIPE FOR THE DURAMAX?
No we do not. The Duramax has a very short down pipe that is very difficult to get at. Instead we attach as close to the turbo as possible with our "Off Road" system or by using our optional front pipe with the catalytic converter back systems.

cjbatt,
Maybe I can help clear this up. The industry uses the word turbo back pretty loosely to say the least and on the Duramax only TTS makes a true pipe that attaches to the turbo. We coined the phrase "front pipe back" a few years ago to help eliminate confusion here at DPPI with our own customers. You can get a cat back or a front pipe back system. You can also purchase a front pipe as a seperate item and add it to your cat back system to make it become a front pipe back system. So many folks were getting a full system and expecting turbo back system and not getting that, that we changed the name to front pipe back so there would be less confusion etc.
If you need any help on this or anything else just call us at the office.

That doesnt sound right. A cat-back and front-pipe back would be the same thing. The systems that some are calling Turbo-back are really down-pipe back as they bolt up to the down-pipe, not the turbo.
The main difference in going with a cat-back vs. a down-pipe back is the down-pipe back will not include a provision to bolt the cat-back in. If you have an 04.5+ it is a good idea to get the cat-back and then get optional front-pipe. This way you can swap the cat in and out when need be.
Clear as mud?

like i have said befor we need a sticky that has a diagram of the exhaust system to keep the confusion to a minimulal (sp?)
