Just picked up a set for my truck and installation seems simple enuff except:

There are some 3M clear lamination to protect the paint should the flaps vibrate and have a tendancy to scuff the finish.

QUESTION for those having installed their own when the finish/surface is a pebbly finished plastic flare. What did you do? Way I see it, it (3M masking) doesn't apply in this case. What was your experience?

I wouldn't bother. You won't get a good stick. I had the Husky's on my last truck with painted flares, no tape. They chafed the paint, but you had to pull the flap back to notice it. Don't pull the flap back, and you won't see a thing...

ShumDit,

I have the black pebbly finish flares and I assumed the 3M clear lamination was for the painted flares. I tossed them and see no problem!

I didn't install the tape at first but noticed chafing soon after. Loosened the huskies and installed the tape.

Ragtop ~ are your flares painted or textured finished?

Did it stick/stay?

Flares are painted (pewter). Stuck just fine.
