This has happened twice, once last year and once recently. I start the truck, and the brake light and ABS light both stay lit and the DIC reports "brake system failure" and won't give back the odometer. The brakes work fine. I shut it off and restart it and everything is fine. Ever heard of such a thing?

probably an ABS problem...you'll need a Tech 2 to read chassis/EBCM codes.

I have a Snap-On MT2500. I'll scan it and see if it comes up with anything. My module is only good up to '01, but perhaps I can get something in generic OBDII mode if it doesn't work the regular way.
