Yes, the bumper looks like a chunk of chrome gardrail. The front of the Chevy kinda looks like that car in National Lampoons Vacation.):h
sideswiper 09-28-2006, 11:20 AM i think the gmc frontend looks alot like a durastroke or powermax.gotta helpem run cooler though.
02 WS6 TA 09-28-2006, 12:49 PM Am I the only one glad I bought an 800?
I love the smooth dually fenders on my truck better. But, the new GMC's will convince me when I see one close up.
DURAtotheMAX 09-28-2006, 02:25 PM and no 19.5'' wheel option.
you will probably never see a 19.5" wheel option in a light duty truck (meaning 2500 and 3500). Its simply not necessary. 4500 and 5500 trucks its an option because of the load capacity that they can have....
ben
Gradyghost 09-28-2006, 07:25 PM Nice when can I get one....Think I am ready to trade up the 2001?
bigRazor 09-28-2006, 07:33 PM First, that has to be one of the ugliest bumpers I've ever seen on the Chevy.
Second, my dually rides bad enough with 16's. I can only imagine how much worse 19.5's would be.
Brakesmart's should be part of the trailer tow package.
towdog333 09-28-2006, 07:36 PM LIKE THE GMC THE CHEVY NOT SURE:rolleyes:
Gradyghost 09-28-2006, 07:45 PM www.gmc.com has some limited pics now...and even a powerpoint on the 07's attributes.
tysmith 09-28-2006, 07:58 PM I am glad I got my '06... GMC looks to be the better of the two.
BIG truck, teeny-tiny wheels... Those wheel openings look ridiculous. Trucks look like they are equipped with the 'South-of-the-Border Low-Rider' package...
the05hd 09-28-2006, 08:16 PM i see they '' leveled '' the towing mirriors !! :)
looks better !! ;)
Ten_Bucks 09-28-2006, 08:20 PM I personally like the way both of them look, but if I were to buy one, I'd buy the Chevy because I like the look of the front end better. Still, its about flippin' time that GM debuted the new trucks.

northface 09-28-2006, 08:24 PM is it just me or does the gmc look like a ford sd
vettelovralexand 09-28-2006, 09:16 PM I notice a few things when I look at these that make me curious. First, like someone else noted, they moved the duramax/allison badge to the cowl of the chevy. Second, it looks as though you will have to break the plastic on the front to ever use the tow hooks(ahhh...the endless pursuit of aerodynamics in trucks that keep getting bigger). Third, it appears as though the exhaust pipe necks down and then flares back out at the exit. I am not entirely sure of the purpose of this, but it is interesting nonetheless. Fourth, it looks like they finally moved the trailering harness into the bumper to keep it from getting broken off by offroading. Fifth, it looks like they put the turn signals into the new towing mirrors. Sixth, the panel gaps look to be very good on both trucks, once again for those aerodynamics and also for that "quality" look. Seventh, it looks like they still didn't get rid of that exposed cable that runs along the frame rail. I have never had any trouble with this, nor have heard of anyone else having any trouble, but i still don't like it. Eighth, it looks like they have the new one piece rubber bosch windsheild wipers, I am curious if these are going to work better than the old style or not. Ninth, I see back up sensors have made their way to the trucks. Overall, I like the improvements, but I hate that they keep making the frontal area bigger. I hate cleaning the bugs off the front of these things. I hope they do well.
vettelovralexand 09-28-2006, 09:22 PM One more thing, I like that they put bed rail protectors on now and also like the new bed rack/tie down rails. Does anyone have the work truck interiors or pictures of the aftertreatment cans on these trucks?
silverado04 09-28-2006, 09:50 PM one word..
UGLY!
rolloffhill 09-28-2006, 10:19 PM still no alum. wheels
:iamwithst and they probably never will....
It has the pre-88 dually fenders.
Not seeing that but ok....
demp223 09-28-2006, 10:54 PM Like the fact they opened up the grill area for more flow, but other than that the went square Dodge style look to me.Dont like it. To square.Interior is nice though.
Gunner0812 09-28-2006, 11:29 PM The GMC looks better. I was hoping the front end would have the same look as the avalance.
JeramyB 09-29-2006, 12:26 AM GM is building uglier trucks, while ford is stepping up to the plate.
http://www.leftlanenews.com/2006/09/28/2008-ford-super-duty-unveiled-f-250-f-350-f-450/
:help: Now GM needs to work on getting the GVW and CGVWR higher on these trucks. Not everyone wants one of the GM 4500's for a daily driver.
I hate the thought of having to buy another ford -:t
rcpd34 09-29-2006, 12:37 AM you will probably never see a 19.5" wheel option in a light duty truck (meaning 2500 and 3500). Its simply not necessary. 4500 and 5500 trucks its an option because of the load capacity that they can have....

Why not? Ford offers it. I'd buy it in a second.

gmd_pps 09-29-2006, 03:52 AM boy I am happy that I bought a 2007 Classic ..
I like the looks much better .. the new ones look like a Nissan on steroids ..
the same with Ford .. too many edges .. too square for my taste ...
but each to his own ...
gmd
DURAtotheMAX 09-29-2006, 10:36 AM Why not? Ford offers it. I'd buy it in a second.
no, im 99% sure Ford offers it in only the F450 and F550
rcpd34 09-29-2006, 10:59 AM no, im 99% sure Ford offers it in only the F450 and F550
Could be, but their F450/F550 is offered in a pickup configuration. Another area where GM is lacking.
benjammin 09-29-2006, 11:03 AM is it just me or does the gmc look like a ford sd
:iamwithst
They both look like "super" duties to me, shapewise mostly. They'll probably grow on me, but not yet.
maulcruiser 09-29-2006, 11:42 AM Wow, a locking tailgate!
Way to go on being able to run the same style wheels for five different truck redesigns...-:t
It has the pre-88 dually fenders.
I can see that too. That multi-angled 73-87 physique...
the4wheeler 09-29-2006, 04:44 PM yea i agreee thay are coppying the new superdutys it is a shame
cdhd2001 09-29-2006, 04:57 PM The new Chevy front grill reminds me of the 81-87 Silverado's with the 4 headlight config. Looks alot like my 86 and 87 trucks.

C.A.P 09-30-2006, 09:47 AM The GMC looks alright, the Chevy looks like it has wierd bumper ends , and fenders that look like Toyota !
DURAMAX3500 09-30-2006, 03:27 PM the body style isnt my favorite
but i love it cuz its diesel and has 4 wheels in the back, and it doesnt say FORD or DODGE ):h
scottdiesel 10-23-2006, 04:08 PM The GMC looks good but I love the Chevy and that front bumber is awesome! :ro)
I love those big chrome pieces on each end.
I may have to trade......):h
Darin300 10-23-2006, 05:44 PM I'm not sure yet, right now im happy with my body style, first impression is ugly..
I'm a GMC person, but I do like the new Chevy front end with the big grill and headlights. My .02 cents worth...
Fitter48093 10-24-2006, 07:55 PM I like the hood on the new chevy the most, but I think over all the GMC looks better
greenmax 10-28-2006, 01:15 PM i like the fenders on the gmc better i just saw a half ton today and the pics dont do it justice , it looks awesome i didnt like it till i saw it up close

diesel_dream 11-01-2006, 09:34 PM still no alum. wheelsi just said the same thing
duramaxguy04 11-01-2006, 11:30 PM The interior looks exactly like my 07 Tahoe. I love the Tahoe, but was hoping the new Silverado would have a different interior. I dont want 2 rigs that look exactly the same on the inside. Guess I will just have to wait and see one in person.
Cummins Luke 11-03-2006, 02:27 PM When is GM gonna pull their head out of their backside and put some 17" rims with some aluminum wheels or at least some full wheel covers on? They need to upgrade to 17's IMHO so they can get some decent size brakes under the rims to compete with Ford and Dodge. And come on 215/85/16 pizza cutters? The last new GM pick-up I bought had an MSRP of $47,000 and within a years time the steel painted wheels were starting to rust. You'd think if they were going to go to the trouble to redo the whole truck, maybe they'd finally scrap the 1970's and 1980's style rims?
6 Shooter 11-03-2006, 04:37 PM They need to upgrade to 17's...

astieg 11-14-2006, 11:53 AM What the Censored is really going on with that bumper. Holy Censored it must double as a sat. dish and an emergency mirror if you get lost. Forget driving it because I am tickled with the feel and looks of my ride... Never mind I got it..... All that chrome is for the idiots to get the Censored outta yer way. Sorry I think it looks bad...........
2006LBZ 11-14-2006, 03:50 PM yea i agreee thay are coppying the new superdutys it is a shame
No, I don't think its a shame at all. They did a nice job with the "copy Ford" thing. I'm glad, Ford has had the styling market locked up for a while, now GM has their fair shot at taking over! GM's have looked the same forever. Even "new" designs are rounded versions of older designs. At least this 2007 body is up to date.
I can tell you I far prefer the GMC look, over the new Chevy.
6 Shooter 11-14-2006, 08:21 PM anybody see the similarities?YEP - There both trucks!
clc0000 11-17-2006, 05:30 PM Back to Original Post. They're both ugly. No, wait. They're both beautiful. Anyway, old or new, they look better than Fxxd or Dxxxe, any day.
Gruffid 11-17-2006, 06:39 PM hmm. The integrated brake controller would have been nice... But, I still prefer the separate dually fender from the bed. I didn't like paying $1200 for the whole bedside. And I've been in one of the half-tons. And they still didn't get it completely right.
For instance... If you notice in the back seat... There are two cup holders on the floor, I think (they may be in the door, I can't remember). But if you flip down the arm rest in the middle seat, there are two *more* cup holders. But you can't access them if there's someone in the middle seat. Now, my question is, which config needs more cup holders? The one where three people are sitting in the back seat, or the one when two people are in the back seat? Uh huh. Good job guys.
That's just one example. Yes, I have others.
I swear, my next truck will have the late '80s body style. Too many electronics in 'em these days. And the only cup holders were *maybe* in the front seat, and only on the bucket seat models. And on the diesels, there weren't any ECMs, BCMs, TCMs, or any other CMs. D***ned CMs.
Ok, NEXT!

"Old" body style. Same grille etc as '05/'06. The Regular '07 is the all new truck. Only 1500, Taho, Suburban and 2500 Suburban available until after the new year.
GetYourOwnBox 11-17-2006, 10:51 PM humm i'm not sure hahah
Wolford 11-18-2006, 01:57 AM Hrmm 07 classic it is for me!!! That interior of the new trucks looks whimpy, too much like mom's tahoe.
GetYourOwnBox 11-18-2006, 02:46 AM as far as i know i got a classic, not sure anything else was even an option to get, UNLESS you guys are reffering to what they actually call the LTZ?

LTZ is just an option. Not even available on the 2500's. Does your truck look like the one in Wolfords Avatar? Also, your sticker would have said Classic or not.
GetYourOwnBox 11-18-2006, 09:29 AM yeah its a classic

LTZ is definitely an optional trim level on 1500, 2500, and 3500 series trucks in the NEW BODY STYLE. 07 Classics do not have an LTZ in any pickups, just 3LT Trim. (same idea basically)
Its now going to be: Work Truck, 1LT, 2LT, LTZ.

sbrem 11-19-2006, 11:02 AM I don't like the looks of the Chevy much at all, but the GMC looks really nice.
