I have been reading endless posts and researching, from various websites regarding the injector problems with the new LLY engines.

I brought it to the attention of the fleet person I have been dealing with. He has been very responsive so far and returns my e-mails like clock work. I am very appreciative for his professionalism.

However, When I told him of the injector problems with the LLY engine, he was bewildered. He told me he needed to contact someone who should know if there was actually a problem. I gave him this sight and other references where I recieved my info.

He finally got back to me and he was told that there has never been a problem with the injectors for the LLY(other than 1 person). Only the 6.2 engine had injector problems. He said it was an isolated incident with one LLY owner who was very disgruntled.

So, my question to all you GM/Chevy Duramax LLY professionals(compared to me). Are all you guys and gals lying?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif Or is there a major cover up here?

I also read a few posts that their was a bad batch of injectors. Is there anyone who can chime in here as well as who has already received an LLY engine in the month of May to the present.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/HiHi.gif

YES.. There is and has always been a problem with injectors, it might not be a big deal at your dealership and he may have been referring to just one case there and not across the board. GM / Chevy knows about the problems and have even gone to the 200k mile warranty on the injectors because of that. But do keep in mind that it may seem like its a huge problem, but i bet if you actually looked at the number as a whole in regards to total vehicles out on the road vs. vehicles with injector problems, that the percentage would not be super high - just my thoughts though

In my opinion it should be comfort enough that GM stepped up the warrenty to 200,000 on the injectors. That is steppin up to the plate!

Hi Dpower,

Is it 200,000 miles or 5 years? Or is it a flat 200,000 miles?

Thanks for your reply.......

The injector warranty at this point is for 01 & 02 trucks if I remember correctly , and is 7 year 200,000 mile. Others had stated it is believed other years will follow if it is determined to be an issue.

The problem with LLY injector failure is there may have not been any at this point in time from what I have read.

I belive Dmaxallitech stated that those that have been replaced may be due to improper diagnosis, but time will tell if this is the case.

My LLY was built 5-24 and no problems so far.

What ever the problem in Flint, Howard said my serial # was above the 'on-hold' trucks, so it has the OK parts.

Mine was built 1/04, I got it 3/04, after almost 10k it has not missed a beat. Any new vehicle can have it fair share of issues, we will have to see with this one.

I have had my lly for about a month with about 900 miles on it,twice it has missed a second or two then alot of black smoke.I am a gm tech so i called tech assist and was told they have had only 2 cases nation wide with injector failures,I figure he was lying, told me without a ses light and code there was nothing that could be done about it until it does it all the time.He wanted me to drive around with the tech2 hooked up until it does it again. It happened 300 miles between each episode.I dont plan on tying up a tech 2 that long.It runs great all the other times. He also told me the 200000 mile injector warranty is only on the Lb7. I am just going to drive it and see what happens. tmartin

I've had my build on 1-10 and got it 3-5 with no problems. I got over 3,100 miles with only a ticking noise when it's cold then runs great.

I ordered my truck march first and was built the first week in april, it was placed on hold due to the bad batch of injectors that ran through and i finally got the truck june 11. The reason these trucks were placed on hold was a quality control measure. Most of these trucks did not actually have bad injectors but they needed to run a test on them to make sure they didnt...This is how i undterstood it anyways i could be wrong...To my knowledge there hasnt been any major issues with failing injectors on the LLY's, the LB7s may be another story but i dont know much about that problem with the LB7s so I'll let someone else take that one...

3500LLY,

I have a buddy (Aluminator) who posted a few weeks ago about his LLY's problems. Injector problems 2 times. They had the truck in the shop for over 40 days I believe. He retained a Lemon Law attorney and what do you know..... heads started spinning and he said it looks like he is getting a 2005....

There hasn't been any major issues maybe a few anybody know the number of buybacks or problems with the 6.0? Thatd be interesting...But I'm sure theres only a couple people who actually know what those numbers are.
