When I first got the truck, the light would only come on for a split-second. I have noticed the light staying on longer and longer. This morning it was 60deg. and the light stayed on for about 9 seconds. I dont think that my old LB7 ever stayed on that long... Im not getting any codes, its not running rough and its not smoking. Maybe im paranoid....
what do you guys think?

have you had the glow plug update done?
i hear normal at 60deg is about 1 1/2 seconds
mine olny kicks on when its about 55 deg out for about 1 sec.
i think 5 sec. is the max this plugs should be on for....

Mine usually stays on for at least 5 seconds no matter what the temperature is. This morning it was just over 50 degrees and it was on for 8 or 9 seconds. I only get the light once during the day when i first start it in the morning. This is much better than my Ford 6.0 which would have a longer light and it wouldn't just be in the morning... it would be with every start of the truck, even when it was hot.

So yes, definately normal :)

First start of the day, my LBZ comes on for 1-1.5 seconds at about 60-65F OAT. Never see it the rest of the day on subsequent starts.

At 55 degrees mine comes on for about 1 1/2 seconds too. I would take it in to make sure they have it programmed right.

This morning and the past few have been in the upper 30's. I've been consciously counting how long it stays on. Get about 1000 - 1, 1000-2, 1000... and thats it. Gone.

Mine stays on for 13-15 seconds everytime I turn the key. I should talk to my dealer and see whats going on.

i have to start paying more attention. Since getting my truck in April, I have been starting it almost like a gaser. Just turning the key and away we go. I am in the habit of hesitating for the 1st start of the day. When we have a cold snap, I look just to see what the "wait" time is, usually a send or 2.

hmmm. I have never seen mine at all. It has been gettin into the low 40 a couple time at night and in the early morn but I have never even seen it.

My '00 F-350 with the 7.3 stayed on for a long time EVERY time I started it, the '06 LBZ comes on for a second or two in the morning and that is it for the day!

Only for a second or two on the first start of the day, then it is a blip.
My 2003 was a bit longer, but not much.

Mine comes on for a second or two in the morning thats all, temps have been around 50 latley.

Before the glow plug update I could count to three first start of the day. After the update I seldom see it come on and then only a flash.

I didnt even know mine had a wait to start light. Ive never seen it.

Yesterday 50 degrees and it stayed on about 1 to 2 seconds. Even in real cold weather it has never stayed on longer than maybe 3 seconds.

Mine flashed at me for the first time the other morning......not even a half second....Suprized the crap out of me though...untill then I was convinced they forgot to install one on mine.......:o:

I've never seen my light. It must come on and off so quickly I haven't been able to locate it yet.

3 1/2 - 4 sec at 57 deg f.

at 60 deg mine is on for about 2 seconds. it has gradually gone from about 0.5 second to 2 seconds as the truck gets older.

what wait to start light?

Us Texas folks will probably see it twice a year LOL. I bought my truck in a few weeks back and have yet to see it. I only know what it looks like from the manual.
