New truck with 1500 miles on it. Was backing out of a parking space and it felt like I hit somebody behind the truck, but did not.

Tried to drive off and it would not shift out of first gear. Check engine light came on. Limped home as I was not far away.

Dealer is supposed to pick it up/tow on Monday. Any suggestions on possible problems? Is it the tranny or could it be an electrical/computer problem? Any other experiences like this?

6/22/04---Dealer called and said code was for C solenoid problem. Did not have the codes as the mechanic forgot to write them down for him. He is getting them for me.

Any ideas on how extensive this repair is? Not a happy camper with this problem at 1,500 miles. Appreciate any comments!

DEALER CALLED. Codes where P0700 and P0842. They said prob one of 3 things have to be done. 1) electrical wire harness 2)Valve 3) Valve body. Sound right?

150 miles after the tranny work, same problem. Back in the shop. Told the dealer to get me a new one and he can have mine!Edited by: dchilders

do you have a way to read the codes in the ECM? if not you're probably going to have to wait for the dealer. hopefully its something simple! good luck

Diesel Power. I do not have a way of reading the codes. So I will have to wait and hope it is something simple. Which brings up another topic. Do you have the capability to read codes? I've seen the hand held machines to read them for other vehicles. If you have the capability, what is it and approx cost and where can i get them? Thinking it would not be a bad idea to have one. Thanks!

not sure what the least expensive route it, as if its a tranny code you would need to be able to read the TCM as well. i have a tech 2 which can do that, but they are expensive $3k+

You might look into Autotap. I just heard that they are the ones who wrote the Allison DOC program. ( Allison in house pc diagnostic software). Transgo loaned me their ( Allison DOC ) and it is dynomite.

Diesel Power. Thanks for the info. That type of investment is probably not a good idea for a novice like me. Will just have to wiat on the dealer to see what is going on. Will post the results after I find out what is going on. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Doug, Mine did a similar thing. More mile though @70k. On mine it was a simple connction on the bottom of the tranny. I bought mine used and were it came from is in NM and very dirty/dry and in htis connection was some dirt and debrise. The tech cleaned it and all codes went away, then I flushed the tranny since mine was dirty. I was so worried something major was going on since it would not shift. JMO and hope all is well.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cool.gif

blnagel. Thanks for the post. I hope my problem is easy to fix like that. I've had the truck for about 3 weeks and it has not been anywhere to get dirty per se.

Thanks again!Edited by: dchilders

Mike - I found the autotap online, heres the link, im thinking of purchasing this and want to know if there is anything else i would need with this set up. I would be using on my laptop, then they have the base unit, and i would assume you then add the GM information listed on there. all in all not a bad price ? Thanks for any info, heres the link:

Had the valve body replaced on mine @ 3400miles under warranty. They shotgunned and replace the TCM first. Together w/rental, repair cost the general 2900. I'm no tranny tech but apparently its a simple procedure.

Did that fix the problem? How long has it been since the valve body repair? Thanks for the info.
