New truck with 1500 miles on it. Was backing out of a parking space and it felt like I hit somebody behind the truck, but did not.

Tried to drive off and it would not shift out of first gear. Check engine light came on. Limped home as I was not far away.

Dealer is supposed to pick it up/tow on Monday. Any suggestions on possible problems? Is it the tranny or could it be an electrical/computer problem? Any other experiences like this?

6/22/04--Dealer called today and said the code was for a C solenoid problem. I asked for all the code numbers and service rep said the mechanic forgot to write them down for me, but he was getting them.

What concerns should i have about a c solenoid problem? What if anything should I demand from them? Appreciate any comments.

DEALER CALLED. Codes where P0700 and P0842. They said prob one of 3 things have to be done. 1) electrical wire harness 2)Valve 3) Valve body. Sound right? Edited by: dchilders

The only true way to find out is read the code stored that set off the MIL ....

We all just would be guessing other wise ...

Good luck

Dealer called and said code was for C solenoid problem. Did not have the codes as the mechanic forgot to write them down for him. He is getting them for me.

Any ideas on how extensive this repair is? Not a happy camper with this problem at 1,500 miles. Appreciate any comments!

Got the truck back today. There was an electrical short in the C solenoid. Replaced and all is well as of now. GM just spent $350 on a new truck (warranty work). I hope their stock doesn't drop to much tomorrow after dropping that much to fix a brand new transmission with 1,500 miles on it. Hope no other problems in the future.

Ouch! Sounds like they didn't find the root cause alright, give them another chance, then I would start getting testy!

I'm in the testy (controlled) mode already.

The problem is they say this is unusual and do not see it often or at all, which is why I probably have a LEMON. Now they want to get help from Tech services. If it is unusual or not see often, who the hell is going to help?

After running diagnostic test, says do the same thing, replace c solenoid. We know that does not work. So my guess is they start replacing stuff they think is good. I do not like being a guinea pig, and have zero confidence in this thing being reliable.
