Just came back from a 6,000 mile cross-country tow when what to my tired eyes would appear......
Truckers were hollering about it on the cb. These were fast pictures through my windows on I 70 in Ohio. Don't think he listens to a radio in the cab. That pipe comes straight up through the hood.

Good questions.
I saw it from the other side. There was hood metal all around the pipe with some kind of insulating sleeve between the metal and the pipe. It was just a quick look as he went by on that side and then I scrambled to catch up for the pictures. The guy was "hammer down" and just getting this was tough.
