My wife takes the truck to go get some stuff out of storage...
Anyway now truck won't start. I went up there, and the clock was reset. All the lights electronics are on. However, when I turn the key it sounds like an electronic machine gun. Any help would be much appreciated.
HELP!!!
I recently had the same thing occur it turned out that when I jumped it it would turn over but not start. I took out the edge and she fired right up. The edge module shorted out and took out one of my batteries. Replaced the batteries and am running the "Beta" test version 2.1 for edge. Runs great now..I am betting batteries...they do some strange things when they go...Jim

Yeah -- I immediately took out all my electronics. Still the machine gun sound. However, my wife says it's starting to change a little while being jumped so I think it's the battery. However, keep the tips coming. I'm at home tending the fire on the smoker... No time for the truck when foods on!

The first thing I thought of when I read your post was the battery... If you have dual batteries the aux battery will not power the starter motor.... So most likely your main battery is dead....

I hope... That was the weirdest noise. Unlike any other dead battery situation I've faced. Thanks. Do you know what the battery I need is. I will have to run up to Sears later on tonight...

Before buying a new battery double check it with a multimeter to make sure its dead... I believe the battery is a group 27 with GM terminals. Maybe someone else can confirm.

It's definately a low voltage issue and most likely the battery.Look at the battery and see if the positive cable is leaking battery acid. Also grab the positive cable and pull real hard and see if the post comes out of the battery. This is very common and will give you the go/no go situation you describe.
Another easy way to see if the battery is leaking is to remove the cable bolts and see if they are corroded. If they are replace batt and bolts. Tim

You also need to replace both batteries at the same time. If that is your problem.

hey before you spend a dime check for a poor ground or dirty battery terminal check both battery cables and where it attaches to the ground and starter
