My 01 with 61k is in the dealer right now with a bad passenger side fuel rail and (4) other tubes. Don't know what he meant by the 4 other tubes. Is this a common problem. Is there 1 rail per bank on the motor? WOW 1200 for the work. First diesel and don't know as much as I would like about them!

there is one return line for each group of 4 injectors, and then 1 feed line for each injector. that's a total of 10 lines all together. Max Payne cleaned up mine when he replaced the injectors last winter but i know the feed lines can get corroded as they are outside the engine (for the most part). i found someone selling new take-offs on ebay for 35$ for a set of 8 so we'll see how they look. i figured for that much $ i'd buy them for spares

i have never seen or heard of that before. What did you bring it in for and what did they tell you was wrong? What made the fuel rail bad?(techs response)

I had it towed out of the mountains (deer hunting) because it was leaking fuel out of the fuel rail back behind the motor and over the exhaust! The tech said that the fuel rails and injector lines were corroded. They said that it is fairly common and I should think about doing the other side as well before I get stranded again. 1200.00 to replace and 550.00 in towing fees. Not to happy as I only have 61k on the truck and it was 4 months out of warranty. I hear of more stories of diesels leaving people stranded. I also talked to a friend and his dad's Dodge was towed Sat from leaking fuel. On mine leaking may not be the correct term pouring out is more realistic.

We had one early 01 truck do the same thing, leak/pour fuel out of rear of fuel rail, repaired that side, other side puked about a year later, but she was still within the engine warranty.
