I disassembled my 6.2L Stanadyne fuel filter yesterday and I discovered a cream colored residue in the bottom of the filter (drain section). I scraped it out and today the substance is partially dried and it appears to be an ash consistency substance. Any idea as to what this might be? I sure don't want it in my pump or injectors. The filter had 31,929 miles on it.
