Where can I find a pic of the new 4X4 4500's? I'd like to see if they sit any higher than the 2WD version and what kind of axle/suspension they're using.

It seems rather strange that they aren't being advertised. Other than in this forum, I haven't heard a whole lot about them.

chaikwa,

The 4WD will sit much taller than a 2WD. I would guess about 4-6 inches just for the front pumpkin clearance and the solid axle. I have a 2WD and had to have a 3 inch drop kit installed all the way around just to make is useful for towing 5th wheel or gooseneck type trailers. From Monroe the p/u box on a standard suspension sets too high for most trailers. With the 3 inch slam to the ground kit my truck can haul all trialers using 5th or goose. I also have the titan hitch installed for tags.

The axle in front is with manual lockout hubs and is a solid axle. Thats all I know and it would look like the 2WD only you would be seeing a lot more of the suspension. The truck by the way can only be ordered with highway tires at this time.

Cost estimate of one just like mine with dura/alli and Monroe package $63,152.

green04kodiac,

Thanks for the info.

I'm looking for just a cab and chassis for a portable welding application, so ride height isn't mush of a concern. I need more than a one ton because what I have now is overloaded, but the Ford 450 and 550's doesn't do much for me with the 6.0L and the problems I've heard about with them. I thought maybe a 4500 Kodiak might be an option, but I'd like to see one before I go getting all excited about it.

I saw one at a dealer in Massachusetts. Talk about sweet. It was a crew cab 4x4 pickup in green. I didn't look too long at it, but I will say that it was NICE! Wish I had my camera with me, I would have snapped a few pics. I wanted one. It made my truck look tiny. The bed was the same height as mine roughly, maybe 4 inches higher, can't remember, it was a couple of weeks ago. I only have an eight bit brain bucket, and it's about full.

baimpala,

What you saw was a 4x4 conversion perhaps from Monroe as they offer some type of conversion and it is pricey. The Chevrolet 4x4 isn't available until later this summer and the earliest my dealer advised me that I could obtain one if I ordered in June was sometime in October or November. The Chevrolet 4x4 will come out of Flint Michigan already for the Monroe pickup option or as a standard C4500 chassis for owners box.

green04,

I didn't know anything about it at the time. I was certainly interested, that was one beeeee-u-tiful truck. I didn't look at the sticker either. I would seriously consider one of those to replace my '04 in a year or two depending on my next set of orders. If I wind up being stationed in Hawaii, the deal is off, I will probably not even take my truck, just the mini cooper and buy a corvette when I get there. If I stay in the continental U.S., then GAME ON!

BTW, any pics of yours?

Picture attached. I am not a pro yet at digital pix so this has some border garbage on it but it is my attempt at a response

That thing is beautiful. That's almost exactly what I saw at the dealership. Are there pretty much the same kinds of options available on those as on the Silverados? We found out that I was the smartest man alive after ordering the 2500HD with the DVD player going across country when we moved, I would like to get the factory looking player installed if I wind up upgrading to the Kodiak.

Thanks,
Dennis
