the stupid wipers on these trucks dont stay in the up position! if they did it would be a hell of a lot easier to clean your windshield and youd be able to do a better job too. stupid wipers argh.

You have me thinking....why can't these oem wiper blade arms be replaced by ones that do fold up. Has anybody changed theirs over and if you did please tell us where you got the arms, also the part number, etc.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who was mad about this. It's a pretty minor complaint, but still.........

Hey Norcal, let us know if you find some and they fit ok.

If wiper arms off an 01 or 02 do fit on an 04, what is the part no.?

Has anyone compiled a list of the "minor complaints". Along with the wipers I'd add no light in the glove box. I don't think there's a hood light either. Talk about saving pennies on a $40,000 + truck.

Hey at least ours has 4 wheel disks, 05's are going back to drums but then they probably have the right wipers and under hood lights. I think GM is toying with us to buy new trucks every year...........</TD></TR>

You paid over 40 you got ripped off I paid 37,500 for 4WD, allison, Ac, duelly, snow plow( 3600 ) and a dump body (6000) that puts the truck in the high 28k area what options did you get to add $20,000 dollors more than mine?

I just traded my '02 gas for an '04 diesel. If I'd known about the wipers I could have swapped them on the dealer's lot.http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big%20Smile.gif By the way, my '02 had an underhood light. Seems G.M is losing ground in some areas. I found the differential 1 1/2 quarts low in both trucks and the front end grease lacking as others have.

Do the engineers ever actually drive these trucks? I too am ticked that the wiper arms won't stay up while you clean the windshield. What a pain. I like clean glass. Extra height of 4X4 it is even more of a challenge to hold the arm up and clean the glass.

Glove box is too small. Once the manuals are in there, there's no room for any maps let alone gloves. A light would be nice.

Door pockets aren't big enough to hold extra maps.

My wife likes to have her purse handy. No place to put purse? '94 Silverado had buckets, and console that didn't go to dash so there was room on the tunnel for the purse and even the small cooler.

Add,

No tint on the top of the windshield, to that list

The one thing i found on my 01 1500 was the wiper woundn't stay up, but it aslo scratched the hood, so i figured that i wouldn't even try it on this one.

I guess they are chepin out on everything that is handy for other stuff like hood light and no glove light. Do they have dome override for the dome light inside? Has anybody looked to see if you can modify the wipers to stay up like trimming the end? They are making some things better and taking the other things away. What are supposed to do try to hold a flaslight wi using two hands for something in the middle of nowhere. I like how mine has the movable light you can turn on and pull it out.

Not sure but I think they may have changed them to keep you from leaving them up then opening the hood, scratching it in the process. Did this on a 94 and its kind of hard to get to with touch up paint, but you see it fairly easily from inside the truck if you don't fix it.

How about having the center console hinge from the back instead of the side, what is that all about? kinda hard for the wife to dig around and find stuff in there while on the road

One other bitch with the wipers.....How come the washers are in the arms? If your windshield is dirty and you hit the squirters, it drags the blades across a dry windshield for the first stroke. STUPID!

Lawnboy

If you had the squirters on the hood or cowl, they don't squirt immediately anyway. Hence, dragging dry for the first swipe. I LOVE them being in the wiper arm. Good move from my point of view.

My '90 has the most rediculous squirt/wiper timing.

Why cant they engineer a SQUIRT button that squirts without wiping. This way, you can totally soak the windshield,.....THEN hit the wipers.

Not to brag http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif but the wiper arms on my Dodge stay up AND they return to home position when you shut the truck off.... without turning them off first.

Truck as is $40,000 +

With options ie: wipers that stay up, glove box light, hood light and all the other minor issues that are missing $50,000 +

You have to love those bean counters

Older Mercedes used to have a foot button that you pressed to pump the washer fluid onto the windshield, was a very well thought out design.

I too like the juice nozzles on the arms, makes things easier with the bug shield messing with the aerodynamics. On my old 88 GMC, at higher hiway speeds, the fluid would actually blow over the windshield!

Lawnboy

Yeah, and above 50mph, the wipers themselves lifted off the windshield too! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif

My first car (1978 Toyota Corolla) had a little blue button on the tip of the wiper control arm. You could push that button anytime the key was "ON" and get juice squirted on the window. Worked GREAT on frosty mornings. Just squirt, let it melt the frost, THEN hit the wipers!

My Dodge has the pushbutton. It has the nozzles in the cowling, not in the wipers. I think the idea with having them in the wipers is if it's snowing or icy you have a better chance of getting fluid to the windshield. Snow often covers the hood or cowl mounted jets.

With mine, it's on the turn signal stalk. When you depress it once it sprays and does one cycle unless you hold it. Then it continues spraying and cycling. I like that a lot better than GM's method of cycling three or four times with a single squirt. I like having the control.

My 86 had the pissers on the arms 95 has them in cowl it suck in winter the don't squirt though the ice the builds up while plowing. I'll go though 2 gallons of pisser fluid in one storm.

00 to 03 all model pickup arms supposedly fit. $15 a pair at your favorite junk, excuse me, truck dismantler yard. Bought a pair to replace the pair I swiped of my 02 to put on my 05. Other than wiper arms, underhood light, glove box light, overhead console, any thing else missing on 04 and probably missing on 05. Wonder if GM still puts tires on them?
