: Leather
Gradyghost 09-25-2006, 08:15 PM After sitting in all the leather trucks this past weekend I think my next truck will be leather...
It seems all of my trucks have cloth seats and rubber floors.
It was real nice sitting in leather.
aka108 09-25-2006, 08:50 PM You bet it is. We have leather in the cars, trucks and all the seating stuff in the house. Some is better than others but overall you can't beat the stuff. Just a little TLC now and then.
TIM Z 09-25-2006, 08:50 PM yeah, i agree, i love my leather interior! This is my first leather truck. GM interior is superior!
towdog333 09-25-2006, 09:45 PM Hate to burst your bubble but most of the interior is vinyl not leather. Having said that I still like it though.
txguppy 09-25-2006, 10:11 PM I like it. I think it's easier to clean and keep clean. :ro) Spills and "human exhaust" get absorbed into the cloth. P.U.
dozerboy 09-25-2006, 11:24 PM I won't own a vehicle without leather unless it's a beater.
EricJS 09-26-2006, 05:36 AM Leather is sturdier and easier to clean than most people think.
The biggest drawback to a leather interior is that you will never want to have anything else.
Riccas 09-26-2006, 11:22 AM Blood wipes right off leather :)
... cloth leaves a nice big read stain that won't ever come out.
Great if you have kids too. Spills are bound to happen. Will last much longer aswell. The leather also comes with seat heaters for the misses. However, nothing is more comfortable than cloth bucket seats :D

2TheMaxx 09-28-2006, 01:02 AM Hate to be the only one to have mixed feelings on leather but here if goes.
I just traded a 04 suburban for my duramax. The suburban had tan leather. The edge of the drivers seat turned blue from my blue jeans from getting in and out of the truck. Nothing took it all the way off. I am a neat freak so this really bothered me. Also in the summer I did feel a little sticky on the leather until the ac cooled the truck down inside. Also I paid dearly for this luxery leather and when it came time to trade all that luxery wasn't worth a hell of a lot more than a truck without it.
Just food for thought. I say buy what makes you happy.
jimrose 10-06-2006, 12:23 AM I have a 2005 they replaced the passenger seat cover after i year for blemshies now after 4 months the leather is completely worn off on the edges from sliding in and out and they won't replace it because that is wear not a defect.

nekkidhillbilly 10-06-2006, 12:27 AM i hate leather myself sticks to my a$$ and it starts to crack after about 6 years ive got 15 yo cars and the cloth looks like new
i refuse to buy a car with leather and have opted for cloth on all mine
sledog 10-06-2006, 03:10 AM I like the looks and the feel of the seats with leather, but I have seen too many Gm trucks with leather that is only a year old that looks like it's 20 years old. For the price of the option, they should use a more durable/thicker leather.
supatrucka 10-06-2006, 07:28 AM I like leather because it sound's cool when i fart. dave
Efi-Street 10-06-2006, 10:30 PM I prefer the wear characteristics of cloth vs leather, that said, the way to go is to get cloth, then cover it with a Katzkins leather kit for better quality leather IMO.
justintt 10-11-2006, 02:27 AM GM leather seats are OK, but I agree with EFI that Katskins is the way to go. I do like the heated seats and can't get that with cloth
High Sierra 2500 10-11-2006, 09:15 AM I have also noticed that the leather seats in the new trucks don't actually seem that durable... After three or four years they start to tear and crack. And it isn't like the cloth where you can have it repaired pretty cheap...
I do like the comfort of the leather seats, though. It may be a long time before I have anything with leather... I'm still sitting on something that I don't think you can even buy anymore... A cloth bench seat. With a cigarette burn in it from the previous owner. How behind the times is that? ):h
And yes, the floormats are the rubber work truck mats... No vacuuming to be done, just rinse it out with the garden hose...
Warman 10-11-2006, 09:36 AM If you are under warranty and on good terms with your service advisor, they are empowered to send a prematurely worn seat to the trim shop for a new leather panel. They have done it twice for me.
Now I am out of warranty and take great pains to not slide my bootie into the seat especially when wearing jeans.
scvpiper 10-11-2006, 06:26 PM As soon as I get my front seats changed to electric ones I will be ordering custon leather from Katzkins. They make some realy nice stuff
snowracer 10-11-2006, 11:39 PM I love the leather myself and the only real thing that I don't like about it is it's really hot in the summer.
sonnytimes 10-12-2006, 05:33 AM As soon as I get my front seats changed to electric ones I will be ordering custon leather from Katzkins. They make some realy nice stuff
Where can you get the Katzkins?
12wags 10-13-2006, 10:09 PM jimrose- tell the dealer it is pre-mature wear. that has provided me with 2 new steering wheels and one seat on past gm trucks. good luck
Fredrick 10-14-2006, 01:58 PM The leather looks great when its new but in my opinion ages way to fast! The cloth looks better longer and now you can get seat warmers from JP customs for cloth for $99.00.):h
BigRedD/A 10-14-2006, 04:50 PM my leather was worn after two years, looking at replacing bottom seat with same leather only with double thickness and chevy bowtie in red on bottom of seat! a friend can do the job on both seats for under $800.
locknload 10-14-2006, 07:55 PM "leather" would imply real leather.........cowhide etc.....when did vinyl become leather? i guess its like comparing diamonds to circon .... maybe they should be held accountable for false advertising ;)

my dads truck has vinyl seats, and almost every time someone gets in it, they comment on how nice the "leather" is. even my uncle, who's been restoring cars for 40 years now, thought it was real.
BigRedD/A 10-15-2006, 09:04 AM The only vinyl on my front seats is on the edges all around, that will soon be replaced with all leather. There is to much vinyl on these so called all leather seats. The back seats are all vinyl!

Now, THAT'S leather that is actually worth it. GM leather wears out really quickly. No thanks. As noted above, however, if I had friends that bled alot in my truck  then I guess it would clean up better most definitely.

So are the head rest which are vinyl as well as the door panels
harlowk 10-15-2006, 05:30 PM Don't forget the armrests as well!!!!
