Did a little digging but didn't find what I was really lookin for, the meat and potatos of how pressure boxes work.
So how do they work? Why aren't more people using them? I've seen them create more power when stacked on already hot tuned trucks (500+ THEN they made more with the pressure box). How do they cause damage? What do they damage? At what point do they begin to be unsafe - in terms of the amount of horsepower the pressure box is adding? i.e. 50, 75, 100, etc. added HP with the pressure box.
Thanks.

Mitch, my simpleassed understanding is that the pressure boxes interrupt the circuit and send a lower pressure value to the ECM from what the actual fuel rail pressure sensor value is. As a result the ECM shortens the pulse width to the fuel rail pressure regulator on the CP3, and voila, it brings the pressure up and over what it thinks it's getting. (remember that the CP3 is wide open with no applied voltage to the FRPR, and pulsing it "on" reduces the pressure being delivered)
Basic "fooler" technique. I might not have all of that right, but you get the point. Higher pressure in the rails at the same pulse width = mo fuel = mo power.
I believe some of the early systems could ramp the actual pressure to 26 ksi and some of the trucks developed leaks. I think the leaky parts have been updated since.
There was a debate between a couple of the guys and Steve Cole about the Duramaximizer within the last 2-3 months, maybe you should try to dig it up.

They were a neat little device right up until we ran out of CP3 pump using the big tunes. If your commanding 23,000 psi and only making 18,000 psi or less actual, what good does it do to lie to the ECM about the pressure so that it thinks it is only 15,000? It can't keep up either way.

Gotcha.
So they really only either create too much pressure because you have enough as it is (provided your system is being capable of producing more pressure) OR they don't do much of anything because other parts can't keep up as it is?
Bottom line is, they aren't of much use anymore because the system can be maxed out without them?

Mitch, if it's just a pressure box, you get more fuel via increased pressure, but there is no additional pulse width and no timing alteration. There's way more to be gained with those two, than simply raising the pressure.
