I'm going to be installing the bd drivers side exhaust manifold soon and figured since its going to be apart anyway I may as well lube the intermediate steering shaft as well.Question is does it matter if the trucks jacked when you pull the shaft or does it need to have weight on the wheels when you pull it.Or doesn't it matter either way.I was planning on having it jacked and do it all at once.

Doesnt matter. Just make sure you tie down the steering wheel somehow so it stays clocked properly, if you get it 180 degrees off you risk breaking an airbag wire. I just masking tape through the wheel onto the shift lever.

Jettech - Where are you? Is your truck an LBZ? I am interested in adding the BD manifold as well.... and lubing the shaft!!!

Have you selected a EGT guage yet?

Chicago suburbs,it is an lbz.Originally I was just going to drill and tap(hoot method). But after reading a couple posts on manifolds cracking after drilling I decided to do it right and get the bd manifold.Better flow can't hurt either.Ordered it this week from xtremediesel. Was $285 with free shipping.Probably won't get it installed untill mid october.Have a camping trip scheduled and don't want to be stuck without a truck if all doesn't go well, murphy's law.Bought the autometer z series boost and pyro from http://www.dieselperformanceparts.com/ along with the autometer A pillar and the paint to match the interior. The z series seemed to match the look of the stock guages fairly well. Not sure on the lighting color yet, comes with a red and a green bulb cover. Not sure if the green cover will work or if a blue one is needed as I haven't tried to light it up yet.Concensus seems to be that reusing the old manifold gasket it fine.I opted to get a new one.$40 at the dealer or www.gmpartsdirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com) had it for $22.55,gmpartsdirect also had the lube kit for the steering shaft for $7 something.
