Hi all,

This is my first post. I baught an LLY Dmax in late April and have already started to mod it. I've been reading everybody's posts for about a week trying to educate myself and have gott'n in on the Edge group purchase through MasterP (Thanks). I guess the general concensus is the intake on the Dmax is not a problem but the exhaust can be. And since the edge will be going on hopefully shortly I'd like to get EGT's down to cooler operating temps I'd like to get some opinions on what people are using. If it's possible, I'd like to hear more of the turbo and less of the crackle the deisel makes. I don't want any resonance at highway speeds and wouldn't mind gett'n rid of that cat. Any sound bytes and opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Welcome Rich, and congrats on your new truck. I have just installed the MBRP 4" T-409 SS single system, way easy to install and a very sweet system. Haven't done any distance yet with the new exhust but think I'm gonna like it. I did the cat back so it's not loud at all but still sounds very nice. Hope that this is helpful.

I'll be installing the Juice/Attitude combo soon also. I will have to take it easy until I replace the OEM exhaust - I cannot afford to do the Juice and the exhaust at the same time.

This will allow me to monitor EGTs and fuel mileage with the OEM exhaust, OEM performance settings and Edge Juice settings. Comparing them to numbers taken after upgrading the exhaust will be interesting.

Anyone already do this? What is your experience?

Thanks,
HBruns

I like the quality and sound of the Banks exhaust-but I haven't had other systems to compare it to. Everyone around here still has their stock exhaust.....

As far as intakes go, they're all about the same. Different tube with a guaze filter. Probably 1/2 hp between ALL of them.

Welcome Big Block,

Im in the same boat as you so thanks for posting.... I will probably be doing the opposite by getting the exhaust first, only becuase I know Id be to tempted to tweek the Edge and put my foot in it.

For the record I ran the Edge Hot Juice (125hp) for a year on my 2002 with only a Flowmaster muffler. I pulled 6-9000 lb loads in the the Juice lower levels. Of course for the most part Texas can be called flat land.

I was not running guages then, so I tried to be easy when I was pulling. I never had problems and did not set any codes. When I was not pulling I ran it hard. 1/8th mile runs etc. only.

IMO, and you can read past posts, the stock exaust and maybe a muffler upgrade is all most guys will ever need for an Exaust mod if they are running smaller hp power boxes. (say 125 hp or less)

Towing and all out 1/4 mile racing is another issue.

Thanks to everybody who replied. Still haven't decided yet. I need to hear a couple of different systems before I choose.
