Pulled off my fuel filter tonight as I did a full fluid service on truck front to rear. Thought someone might be interested.

Filter has 11K miles on it, 5,300 of them were without the Nicktane pre filtering I added. I am going to change the Cat filter tomorrow when I pick up one( only filter I do not keep handy). I also had my new helper...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/D25_DSC01050.JPG

Do you run an additive? If so witch one?

When I changed mine after 10k, it didn't look like that! Rust-rust on the bottom. (Stock filtration, no additives) Gonna change after 5k and see what that looks like.

Thanks for the pic!

I see you're raising the girl right!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

It's nice to see kids that are willing to help with vehicle maintenance and it will serve them well in their adult life.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

Oh yeah the filter looks well used from the bottom up.I think it would have been past due for changing without the Nicktane added.

Hey, DD how's it going. Nice shop, great helper plus she's happy about it! LOL

Thought you would like that Nictane setup. Wait until the next 10-15K when you have a full cycle with the Nictane. That OEM will be a lot cleaner.

Still running my now extended injector warranted '01 with no issues. Just turned 40K on it, still have the firepops looking good, maybe 10K more left in them. Wife went out and stuck a Lincoln Penny in the tread (god bless her) just to find out why I am waiting to swap them out (have a set of 4 with PYO's in the garage ready to go on one day soon). She said she couldn't see the top of old Abe's head, but his forehead was looking like mine! LOL She's a riot huh!

I have 16K on the OEM fuel filter with the last 8K running concurrent with the Nictane. Heading up to Seattle Mid July with the '39 Chevy and car trailer for Goodguys. Will do a full service and swap out both the OEM and Nictane before we go. Probably have to swap those Firepops before the trip as well, just to be safe. LOL Is that an oxymoron, safe and Firestone in same sentence? LOL ha ha ha

Anyway, 40+K on the Firepops and I only rotated them once at around 20K. Not bad, not bad at all. Can only hope the "replacement firepops" do as well. I picked them up last November thinking I had to get them on soon based on other's reports of low mileage. Surprise, surprise, guess it's the high air pressure, I keep them hard most of the time

How's your racing season going this year? Are you running around here anytime this summer? Still have your wheel lifting launch as a screen saver......real cool.

I've been real busy last 6-8 months at work, been traveling heavy, China, Costa Rica and everywhere, USA. I check in and read to try and stay up to date, but not posted much lately. Hope your business is getting back up to speed and you survived the "downturn".

All the best, keep that BIG RED shiny and take that young lady out for ice cream or something for helping!

Catch you later.

JOHN R: I use FPPF additive and have since about 7-8K miles. They have different dilution ratios based on the cleanliness rating you want to achieve. I run mid level so I consume a little more than most. Appears to be well worth it.

Diesel Power: Like I have said in the past, I stick with the same local fill station for fuel even if I have to drive out of the way a little bit to do it. When on travel, I use high traffic stations so I know fuel is moving and they are less likely to "Add" something to stretch it out. I have never used blended fuel.

NWDmax: Thanks and yes I agree, raising your children right is EXTREMELY important. She actually did the entire oil change. She likes the Fumoto valve, she just drains it out into the recycle containers. No messy transfer deal later. She cannot get enough 'Oomphhh" out of her little body yet to take off oil filter so Dad had to help with that but she pre-filled the new one and screwed it on.

ChevysRus: I will PM you with detailed racing info, but I sold set up and decided to call it a career.... I finally eclipsed the the 7sec 180 MPH mark in the 1/4 mile. I felt this well exceeded the safety margin of a 10" ET Street tire'd, stock front clipped, Mild steel, backhalfed Nova that weighed a whopping 3350lbs. Hard to believe I got that little 357Ci motor to make 1328HP/1211ftlbs Tq at the REAR WHEELS....Ya gotta just Love turbo power...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif. I have some better wheels up Pics then the one you have. I have a great vid clip of me carrying the front end out some 120 feet....YIPPPEEEEEE!!!!!

You only have 40K miles on your truck...Geeeez. I am pressing 90K miles but with GM's nice little Warranty extension, 90K is NOTHING.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif

I will cut the new filter again at 10K mile mark and see what noticeable difference is to be had with the Nictane set up just for straight comparison.

Here's my original filter with 18,000 on it. 15,800 of that with pre OEM Caterpiller IR-0749 element. Looks pretty good. Bottom of can looks spotless. I have been buying fuel just about everywhere between Ohio and Florida, using FPPF. I am going to run the Cat element to 22K and change it.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/483_FUELFILT.jpg
