Hi everyone. I am a new member and would like to applaude this site. I have learned a lot from here. I have recentally bought a (silverado)2002 2500HD EXT 8 foot bed. After reading allmost every post related to cranking the T bars and putting H2 wheels and tires on. I have all ready bought the green keys, air lift bags, and the got the H2 take off's for $800. I will be putting them on next week. I was wondering if any of you have a pics of the same year with the T bars cranked and the H2's whels and tires under it. I have seen a couple of 03's and 04's, but no 02's. I just want to see what it is going to look like. Edited by: ibgummy

if you have the time to wade thru it all, check Lets See What Your Ride Looks Like! (http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=184) .

here's my similar looking '01 with H2's, bars cranked 2", bumper moved forward 2" but not trimmed. I haven't seen another one with all 4 H2 center caps... You probably won't need the air bags and there's a HUGE debate over the Green Keys http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif

He has rear 2" wheel spacers on the rear axle. I have a set as well on my truck. Here are some pics:

Do the spacers server a purpose or just for looks?

"Do the spacers server a purpose or just for looks?"

Yea wear out your wheel bearings faster http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

They allow to match the track width of the IFS and increase stability as well. It is also for looks. I have had them on for over 40,000mi and have had no problems at all. I don't think they cause any more wear than after market wheels with less backspacing compared to stock. That can wear out hubs and bearing just the same yet a lot of people run them. These are heavy duty full floating axles so they will handle the load just fine in my opinion. Mine are made off billet aluminum and weigh around 4lbs each. I had my spacers custom made to be 1-5/8" deep. They are not a full 2" spacer that is why I trimmed the tip of the wheels studs. They are very strong and I have towed and hauled with them just fine.

Thanks Chevyfreek, I like the way it looks too! I was trying to make something a little different.

Dmax Tim, I did a fair amount of research about the affects of rear wheel spacers, and the result was the General admitting the 2" offset will have a "negligable" affect on the life of the rear wheel bearings. Since Chevyfreek had already put a bunch of miles on a set, I felt better about it all the time.

I intend to monitor the wheel studs and bearings a lot more than normal, to see if I need to do something else. 2" is just a little too thick, I would have rathered a little thinner to get the center of the wheel to ride on the hub more. But as it is, they are similar to the front wheels. These were also 'off the shelf', and on the truck in a few days. Custom thickness would have taken more time. Also, I didn't measure how much the hub sticks out to allow for just enuf thickness to clear the center cap - I wanted the front and rear to be the same width, these trucks look like they have a bent frame looked at from behind crabbing down the road unless you know what your looking at. So for me, I guess it was for looks mostly, performance a close second...

It also makes installing the heavy wheels and tires a real workout! Without the spacers, the wheel slides on the hub, easy to turn and align with the studs.

Sorry ibgummy, didn't mean to steal your thread. I felt this needed a little explaination. and to answer your question - Yes! Looks and Purpose! I won't hesitate to tow with them. So far, the studs stay tight and no bearing noises or rattles.

Well it does look good Dave Ski, and it is just a bit different for sure. Everything I had read about the spacers said that there would be very little if any additional wear on the rear axle bearings. I agree that it was more for the looks than anything else, but my truck does seem more stable loaded or empty. The H2 rims do look good with the center cap on the back though. I always wondered if they would fit on the back even with the spacers and now I know. The H2's are an efficent way to add a big tire to these trucks for sure...

I got mine from Performance Wheel and Tire in Denver for around $215. Another place to check is www.correctrack.com (http://www.correctrack.com).

Thanks guys for posting the fourm about the H2 take offs. Last week i ordered some new chrome H2's from a guy in california. I paid 1200 for brand new take offs. Tires were brand spanking new. I turned the torsion key bolt 12 full times. The tires rubbed a little bit, but i took off the mud flaps and trimmed those some.. The drivers side rubs just a fuz when turning fully left...its just the emergency break cable.

Oh and here is a story for you Duramax lovers. I bought my 2004 crew cab short bed chevy duramaxaout 2 months back....my uncle has a 99 power stroke.....its got the programmer turned up to 80 hp 4 inch exhaust and the cold air intake...so she was running his mouth about how good the 7.3 is.....i simply told him the 6.6 is better....so after work....i went home to pull the beast out of the garage...we lined em up....and yup..you guessed it...his power got stroked but the duramax. I cant wait to get my exhaust and chip. Here i come mustangs and corvettes.

Great looking truck Tom. You got any more pics or a photo album you can share with us? Also, do you have green keys/blocks/???

The 01-02 year Chevy HD's are THE BEST looking truck that Chevy has ever made in my opinion. The guy that gave the "OK" on the 03+ design change should have his bag slit and his leg run through it. :smashfrea

Sorry, no picture on my work computer of just my truck. The beast is an '02, CC/LB with H2s. The T-Bars are cranked approximately 1.75" and minor triming on the front valence.

Currently have 43k miles on tires and will change around 46-48k. I really like the tires.
