Duramax No-Start

First time I have had the “no-start” issue. Happened twice last week in Colorado. We were staying in a national forest campground, elev. 10,900 ft. Pulled in with trailer, engine normal temp, and shut truck off. Tried to start it about two hours later. No start after four tries. I was going to disconnect the Juice, but wife suggested that I check the “prime” on the fuel system. Loosened the bleed screw and pumped 20 times to get fuel. Tightened it up and truck started fine. Happened once more before I left.

Also, I noticed that the truck smoked blue when above 9,000 ft. and 2,200 rpms ascending and descending mountain passes. No oil usage visible on dipstick. Plus I noticed more black smoke and about 5 psi less boost when solo. I guess normal for altitude?

Absolutely no trouble climbing and descending mountain passes loaded or solo! Averaged 11.5 mpg towing, low of 9.8 mpg and high of 13.5 mpg, speed mostly 65 mph except where posted limit was 55 mph.

Thanks!

I dont know about your prime problem. But I noticed that EGT's were way up, and smoke was way up when at elevations over 8000 feet. It did look a tad blue to me too.

Well, the funny thing is that the truck has started perfect until the trip. Once I came down out of elevation (back home) it is back to normal, no problem.

I had one no start...@ 5280 ft when I still had summer blend from Arizona in it back in December...I havent noticed any blue smoke when I go over the Continental Divide...I will keep an eye out for it as well as the lower boost and higher EGT's now that I have the gauges installed.
