Perhaps it my imagination, but my truck seems sluggish when pulling our travel trailer in 100 degree weather...seems logical, but do others feel the same way when it gets real hot out? I know the fan kicks on a lot more, but even when the fan isn't on it seem a little sluggish.

Hot air is not as efficient. Cold air will produce more power..

VERY noticeable!! Last winter when we hit -40*, I had gobs of power, even now during the spring/summer, I know she doesn't perform as well.

We are not alone in this phenomenon...Happens to all. But it is the reality of the physics as Dmaxallitech stated, the air is just not efficient. Bet you are at 4500-5000 feet corrected altitude at 100 degrees outside. I have towed through the Mojave Desert in 110 degree weather with air at 6800. Truck still pulled well but was down on power.

I think corrected altitude here in Albuquerque at 100 degrees is closer to 7000'http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif I know it affects aircraft, so I figured our mighty dmaxes, even with help, are a little sluggishhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Dead.gif Edited by: bartman

It is not just the thinner air, but the reduced efficiency of the intercooler that we have to deal with. I wish they would have made the opening in the grill more efficient.

Had a 62 Ford 6cyl that ran really smooth when it rained. Suppose all would (water=hydorgen/oxygen) but it was really noticeable w/the Ford.
