I thought there was a vendor on here that sold hummer takeoffs but I searched for just that and came up empty. Can anyone lead me in the right direction or a place I could get a good deal from.

Thanks,

Matthew

Call the closest Hummer dealer to you. Driving to Indy would be a lot less than freight.

I think it was VFRRider. I think he is located in southern Michigan. Send him a PM.

2MuchFun,

Could you run me a shipping charge to Central IN, that is if you want to mess with shipping them?

I called the local Hummer dealer in Indy today and they said they wanted $780 for them. I thought well thats not to bad, but then he continued and said that was just for the tires they wanted another $800 for the rims and $1200 for the chrome rims. I told him he was nuts the nicest way I could and explained to him that if they where gold plated I would consider the offer.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Confused.gif

Thanks,

Matthew

Do a search on Ebay for Hummer Wheels. There are not many up now, but the guy that is selling the wheels in the completed auction below seems to have a good deal going.

He's an RV dealer in Elkhart, Indiana that sells tons of them!

Just for kicks I called the local dealer. The Parts Manager is the contact and out till Tuesday. The other guy did say they like to move them quick if the owner doesn't want them. I'll see on Tuesday if he has any just in case. I paid $500 last Sept.

Hey everyone! I have a source to get H2 tires/wheels for $550 per set brand new. I just bought a set for my-self and my brother and our 2500HD's. See the difference below:

JKP335,

I don't have info on chrome yet. I'll let you know if/when I find out though!

Thanks - Dave

Whats the load rating on the H2 tires? What effects have you noticed when hauling/towing? I will need new tire shortly and just as soon go with something thats functional and looks good. Ga. seems like it would be a good excuse to take a ride for the weekend. I know the wife won't mind.

I run 35 psi in my H2's unless I tow for a long distance. Even at 35 the sidewalls don't squat being triple ply. Trailer weight 5K or less.

If you tow heavy I wouldn't go that tall. It does reduce your power.

babyfacedavid have you found out anything on the chrome ones yet?

babyfacedavid
07-26-2004, 06:31 PM
Nothing on the Chrome yet. Too busy working on the stock versions right now. I did find out that these wheels are cast aluminum, and so rather than chroming them you can actually polish them to look chromed. I'm checking with a shop to find out what that will cost...and also if it is possible to chrome aluminum. I'll post up here ASAP.Edited by: babyfacedavid

Gearhead if babyfacedavid can't get the chrome ones, JimPru had a full set of chrome rims/tires for sale here
http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=6740&PN=3

I've slid out of the H2 takeoff biz, my suppliers were way too spotty and I ended up with an unmanageable waiting list. Just selling new stuff now, although I still get an occasional set now and then. I looked into polishing the rims, chroming the standard ones, ended up being too costly, wouldn't be able to move them compared to what they go for on EBay. Dealers don't generally have Chrome Takeoffs, after all they are I beleive a $600 option, and people wont spring for that and then yank them for aftermarkets. What you see on EBay is aftermarket chromed standard rims for the most part.

I did research up and down on load ratings, posted a how-to for the move bumper mod, and generally H2 takeoff'd myself to death. But I did deliver a lot of full sets, tires, and rims, and got to meet lots of freindly folks http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Hug.gif.

Babyfacedavid good luck on your endeavor, if you have a good contact at a dealership hang onto it. Hummer sales are in the toilet and supply will probably go up and down. And if any local tireshops get wind of it, they'll try and undercut you. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif If I can answer any questions feel free to give me a bump.

Anyone recall the trick with the center caps? Was there a center cap that worked better than the OEMs? Edited by: Ray403Dmax

VFRRider

OEM's for the PYO aluminum stock wheels work great. I take a dremel and using a cut off disk, cut off the little standoffs that space the centers from the rim (located on the back of the centercaps). Remember to first pull the plastic feet out of the standoffs with a pair of pliers, you can reuse them later. If you cut carefully with the cutoff disk, you will have the back now flush all the way around and they will work great with the h2's. I keep the pieces I cut off (look like little plastic rings), and push the plastic feet into them and put them in a baggie in my tool box. When I tow, I go back to the PYO rims/tires, and I press the plastic feet back onto the back of the centercaps, and viola, I have the stock standoff height back to reuse the centercaps on my PYO's.

Thanks VFRRider,

I'm not sure if my truck came with PYO aluminum wheels or not. My window sticker doesn't list that either. If yours did, I must assume mine did as well. I had just assumed the aluminum were 8600# rated.

I'm not sure about 01's, but you could get 2 styles with the 03, steel or Aluminum (PYO's). The steels were chromed and avail on the standard model, the aluminums were an option I believe on the LS and standard on the LT. The Steel rim centercaps are shaped a little differently and I believe tougher to make fit.

Steel rim centercaps are a little bigger diameter, won't fit the H2's unless they are trimmed quite a bit, somebody here has done it.

I just put rear wheel spacers on mine and used all 4 stock H2 caps.
