This is on the work truck: 2003 2500HD 6.0 gasser. Accel, driving, stopping there is a poping noise kinda like when you bend tin back and forth with out the twang (If ya follow me) local shop said maby under lubed drive shaft but that does not seem to make sence to me, I've never heard a shaft sound like that. Also the noise seems to sometimes come from the front and sometimes the rear. The battle has been waged and the truck is winning :banghead: Any Suggestions?

Check this post. Not the one I was thinking but the last one mentions what it might be. There have been bullentins on slotting the holes in the crossmember. But that has been on the 1500 and standard 2500 platform. Do not know if this applies the HD platform.

I have the same type of pop on mine too. If you sit there and shift it from first to rev and back, you can get it to do it. A nice metal pop, definately not a clund. To me, it sounds like the drive shaft when it is getting the initial torque applied to it in either direction. the second forum post by Tanc Crusher mentioned something about a torque tube inside the drive shaft, sounds like that could be it. Wonder if that is covered by warantee.

the noise i got is a bit diffrent than that (more from the front), you noise sounds like what the shop thought mine was I guess the have had a few where they are under lubed they say if you drop you shaft grease the slip joint, and grease the rear it will fix the noise

tanic: thanks for the links but those are also not my noise looked more today and I'm leaning towards ball joints or bearings because the noise starts when you move and stops when you stop the truck.

Thanks timmy2500. I am getting ready to do a LOF and will take care of that. I was not really concerned about it when I thought that it was drive shaft torqe noise.....damb, now you have me wondering. Thanks though.
