You can get several exhaust systems for under $600 bucks. The key to getting the right system is to decide wheter you want the muffler or not. I plan on going straight pipe with my Banks system and just cutting out the muffler when ordering you would be surprised how much you can save. PM me if you need more info...

not meaning to start a debate or anything - but why should it matter if they're not vendors here? After all, who is this site for? Us or the vendors?

Maybe if the vendors here saw a little competitive pricing, they would bring their prices back in line (assuming of course they're out of line to begin with)

Again - don't want to start a debate or crap on the thread.

Just trying to be politehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif! People probably pay to have thier company names on here.

I agree that they pay to have their name on the site - but it's advertising space - not exclusive rights.

Just my $0.02

What kind of improvements would I notice if I changed my exhaust to a 4" without cats and with performance muffler? Thanks for any help. Ben

There's a company in Salt Lake City named Hog Performance. They make a polished 304 system that's really beautiful and sells for something like $525. It's goes together with stainless clamps and uses stainless hangars. A couple weeks ago I saw some prototype stainless clamp/polished hanger combination pieces that were pure works of art. They offer a couple different mufflers which are also polished stainless. These things are sold by Jeg's, and a couple of the big accessory houses.

Summit has a pretty decent exhaust. $299 + $8 shipping, or stainless is like $499 + $8 shipping. I have the steel, friend has stainless. They use different mufflers and they sound completely different. The stainless has a larger diameter muffler and is a lower pitch.

There are several inexpensive solutions. One I can recall was something like Rip Rooks fair shake.

The only reason you will see a mileage decrease is because it sounds so good that you are constantly in the throttle more!

Guys,

Do the Jegs, Summit and Hog exhausts include the head pipe off the turbo, or are they the type that slides over the "downpipe" under the passenger floorboard?

Rip Rook (http://www.protintnw.com/sa_gm-exh.htm) is where I got mine. Call him and talk. He has great deals and does much more than what's on his website. Very pleasant fellow that goes to extremes to make you happy.

He didn't have a straight piped 5" exhaust with a 6" SS tip on his website but after calling and talking for 1 minute I had a system with exactly what I wanted shipped for cheap.

Hoot, was that for your Dodge? I wonder how that would sound on the DMax?

TTS 4" SS if you want quiet, no drone, performance! Largest/longest muffler I have found, body measures ~40"!

After spending $40-$50k on a truck, why look for the cheapest, get the one you want based on more important criteria like material, sound, size, looks, performance. Just remember, you and your passengers will live with your decision every time you turn the key!

Kartattack,

It is PN. 555-30301 for an ext/cc short bed. That is for the 304 stainless system.

TheBac,

As far as I know, there is no exhaust that includes the actual down pipe for a dmax. The Jegs system connects right to the downpipe.

FWIW In talking w/Hog, pics of Jegs, they are from the V Clamp back.

1bad01, Posts that it slips over the downpipe. And he has one installed.

Shumdit, I saw the same pic, it looks like it attaches at the V clamp?

Either way that Jegs system is a deal at $549 for 304 SS! Wonder how much they'll get me on shipping!

Also, I think the one summit sells is made buy the same co. and is a little cheaper like $499! But jegs has better customer service.

Sorry for the wrong price, I paid $499 last fall, I didn't realize they uped the price.

Morning Members,

Just an FYI on MBRP exhaust and costs etc. The site moderators of most sites don't like vendors posting prices so I'll be vague, but the main reason I am posting is to inform you folks that the price of the 409 and 304 and aluminized systems we sell are VERY competitive etc.

Aluminized is in the high 300.00's

409 stainless from the four bolt flange is in the mid low 400.00's

304 stainless from the flange back is in the mid 700.00's

Dual 409's are in the VERY low 700.00's

Dual 304's are in the Very low 1100.00's.

Front pipes in stainless are very close to a 100.00 dollar bill.

These are all one piece tail pipe systems (except the duals on the driver side, to make it fit as one piece would require removing the diff), with packed with a Spiral Flow muffler with 6 inches of ceramic blanket and stainles steel wool. All the welded hangers on all stainless systems are made of T-304 stainless to make sure we never hear from you under a warranty claim.
