Hey Guys,

I've decided I'm going to get some gauges for my truck. It's a manual so I'm assuming I probably only need the EGT and boost pressure gauges, right?

I have a couple of quick questions. I've been looking around and there are a LOT of different gauge manufacturers out there. Which is the best brand to get as far as reliability vs. value? I also had a question about the boost and the installation. Some of the boost pressure gauges go to 35psi while others go up to 50 or 60psi. What is the stock pressure and expected increase with a banks or edge box?

And the last question, and probobably most important -- how easy are the EGT and boost sensors to install and what does it entail? Thanks for the info!

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/uploads/4_gauges.jpgI like Autometer, I the phantom series, EGT, boost, trans temp, and engine oil temp. I mounted the EGT post turbo as I plan to keep my truck stock and use it mostly as a reference and for cool down. I used a boost bolt for the boost gauge it replaces one of the intake bolt, is hollow, the capulary tube attached to the top of it, I have a 35LB guage, my max is 24LBs. The trans gauge does not matter, the engine oil gauge goes in one of the ports ontop of the oil filter housing, I used the center one. I have a SRT-10 pillar with the EGT the other three are in a cubby mount I got from Quadzilla performance, I think Autometer is making a cubby mount now as well that is a little better as it angles the gauges twords the driver. You should be able to get everything from Geno's. Here is a poor picture.

I think I read in TDR that you get what you pay for in gauges. I think the electronic readouts were more accurate and easier to read.

I use the white faced Dipricols in my truck. They are as close to the factory "look" as your going to get.

As far as what you should get for a boost gauge all depends on if you plan to stay stock or not. Our 305/555's hit around 22-24psi of boost in stock form. However, if you add a fueling box you will hit around 40psi. I chose the higher of the two so I will be covered in case I add a box.

Hey Rosco,

My buddy at work has Duramax, plus I like reading about all the trucks. I like to read the dieselstop as well, although I have not registered there, the 6.0 liter forums are quite entertaining.

Same here, I like to see what the competition is up to.

I'd go with either Autometer or VDO in gauges. Both have excellent reputations in the racing community.
