this past weekend i installed a new carter lift pump from napa on my 97. after reading all the posts i figured out mine was bad so thank you for your help everybody.


question i have is when i first installed the pump, it made a nice humming noise when i turned the key forward and waited to start it. but now all it does is hum a little bit at the beginning and then it is quiet. i climb under the truck and feel it and it is vibrating so assume it is working. is this a normal thing on a new lift pump?

I think what happens is that when the pump 'loads up', it quiets down. It's still working though. You shouldn't have any worries.
