I am planning on ordering my truck in the middle of September. I would like to have it by mid December. For those of you who have ordered in September, when did you receive the truck?

Also, the dealer that I talked to mentioned a deposit before they can order the truck. They said $500-1000 which would be refundable if I bought the truck. Is this the norm?

One more thing, I read that when buying a vehicle using the Suppliers Discount, there are some fees that the buyer doesn't pay. Is there a list somewhere that shows this in detail?

Thanks in advance for your help!Edited by: Reineke

I ordered on 09/09/03. TPW was 10/27/03. It was delivered to the dealership on 11/05/03 and I picked it up on 11/07/03. I paid no deposit, but I am sure that varies from dealer to dealer. I also know several people at the dealership pretty well and have sent them several customers. IIRC, when buying through the supplier discount program, the documentation fees are waived.

I was told that for audit purposes the deposit is a "CYA" move by the dealership showing that the truck was indeed ordered. If they are placing a truck order as sold it takes precedence over orders for dealer stock. Some dealers were putting orders in as sold orders that were really just a stock order. The deposit in not cashed it is just a check they hold onto in case they get audited by GM.

The deposit saves also another important purpose - to get your commitment and your money!
You cannot back out without loosing the money. Since you have no idea what you are paying for the truck when you get it (there are no prices out there as far I know) its like a blind date!

I was just informed by a Fleet salesman this morning that the pricing for the 2005s will not be out until the middle of July, and that these salesmen taking orders and deposits are not going to get you a truck any quicker then if you wait until GM releases the prices, the only thing thats going to happen is your paper work is going to set there until the ordering line is opened by GM, whats going to happen is once these unscrupulous salesmen get your deposit, there going to have you hooked and at there mercy as far as telling you what your going to pay as far as pricing, when it does become available, believe me Ive heard all kinds of horror story's about disappearing deposits and customers having a hard time getting them back.
