I installed my Nicktane Filter System today. I have not driven it anywhere, just idled it for a quite a while in the garage. Install took around 2 hours with the hardest part being the removal of the old fuel line and routing the new lines. It was also time consuming for me as it has come to my attention that I have crappy drill bits. Crapped out three during the deflector mount while make bolt holes; not to mention that my arms got tired. WHEW!!

Install was easy as that and the instructions were good. I did drop the fuel cooler to make it a little easier to release the front fuel line.

I did pre-fill the filter and the truck fired right up. I did not have to purge, not yet anyway.

Great product and well built Nick!! You get what you pay for!!

Do rocks not kick off the tires and beat the back side of the filter? The guard is in the front which make sense, but thought a back plate might protect as well.

rocks don't seem to. i've never seen more than 1 or 2 scratches in an element (besides lots of dirt) when replacing it. i just bought a used 2003 dmax with 150k miles on it, and it turns out it has one of my original kits on it and the filter hadn't been changed in quite a while by the looks of the inside of it. other than mud and dirt there weren't any dents or chips in the paint.

I've had mine on for about a year and have never had any filter damage. I drive in some pretty rough places to.
