I just got my truck over 1 week ago and love driving it so much. I just put in the xcelerator PPE and WOW!!! The power this thing gave my truck woke the sleeping lion. I have it on level 3 and and am leary about level 4. That should bump my HP to @ 530 and torque above 900. I dont have any tranny mods yet but am planning on getting them in the distant future. I just ordered my pyrometer and boost gauges today as well. Any help on installing them would be greatly appreciated.?

Welcome!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Be carfull, power can be extreamly adictivehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Wink.gif

That product may be a bit optomistic especially with the 230hp gain.

Anything over 90hp or so seems to upset the stock allison longterm.

Do a search in the DIY(do it yourself) forum on installing a pyro. I did mine via the Hoot method. He did an excellent write up in the DIY forum.

Whatever the increase was it was definitely noticable. It truly did wake up my truck. I dont have any way of dyno testing though.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

Glad your happy ....

A simple 30 HP at the Rear Wheels will wake up a stock Duramax ...

But before you go and start advertising the gains reported from the supplier of the goods ,I'd back it up first ...I'm not being Negative just PPE has been Known to inflate the numbers a bit ,when challenged it's reported at Flywheel and since no one will yank there engine to prove it's hear say ... Loses do very thru the drivetrain in this case prolly close to a 100 HP .... Normal loses are at about 18 to 20 % ...

If you were at 530/900 at the Rear wheels I assure you wake up wouldn't be your chose of words ,more like "bring it on,I fear NOTHING" but my tranny ...

Welcome to the sight ...

Mac, ya kill me!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

But what Mac speaks of is true and he is wise when it comes to flogging, I mean, taking proper care of a D/A drive train.

That is why I'm not running out and getting a juice. It's just tooo tempting for me. It's a slipperly slope to stand on. First, "it's just a little pick me up for your baby, then you'll be looking to bottle feed her, after that, maybe a little more muscle in the tranny department. Then, before you know it, you're selling Amway products to anyone that will talk to you so you can scrape up money for you monthly tire payments. Be carefull of the power. It's cocaine for your Dmax.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif

I am so new to this. I had a 2002 2500HD gasser 6.0 and my new truck is so much more fun to drive. Seriously concerns, what if any should I be aware of or pay attention to. Right now I am getting 20mpg or just shy of that going 75 with hills here in Montana. My pyrometer and boost will be here shortly. What sort of tranny mods or for that fact any mods would be of benefit. Cold air intake? Let me know.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif

I would get an intake for better flow and quicker spool up, if you like turbo whistle, get the AFE stg 2. If you just want a little more flow get a drop in filter, AFE or Uni and swiss cheese your factory airbox for more air. A good 4" exhaust makes a noticeable difference in egts and spool up also. I would just get your gauges in first and get used to your temps, stock vs. different power levels. Remember you dont want to let it get over 1300degrees for very long at all. That is with the egt probe in the manifold. Keep reading on the Diesel Place and welcome to the forum!

What the heck are egts and spool ups? I have trying to read as much as possible but it does get very overwhelming. I felt so proud of myself for just changing my fuel filter but reading all this stuff is mind-boggling. Does the cold air filter make more of a whining sound. I have bought K&N in the past and have liked them. What would be a good exhaust set up too?

EGT's are your exhaust temperatures. You'll be monitoring these with the pyro gauge you've got on order. Spool up is how quick your turbo spins up to speed. Yes the Cold air intake will turn up to Whining of the trubo, that's what the guys are talking about spool up, one in the same thing!

Exhaust, I think if I wasn't going with stacks, the 4" MBRP system would be my choice! Different people have different opinions though, this is just mine.

BTW, welcome to the site!! Keep reading and you'll learn a pile!! I know I have!!!
