I'm pulling my 32.5 fiver from Vancouver and have had no problems till now. I had coolant leaking from my reservoir, looks like when I'm on hills. If I keep the level low in the reservoir it seems to solve the problem. I stuck a bottle under the overflow tube and nothing further is expelled when I leave the coolant extremely low in the reservoir tank.
- Engine temp is normal with no fluxuation.
- No oil in Coolant
- No coolant in oil
- When I remove the res cap there is pressure and fliud seems to jump up to cold level.
- No bubbling noted in the reservoir.
- With Res Cap off and engine reved a little the coolant in the res moves down then up a little. I
I'm hoping it is not a headgasket. Anybody have any ideas or know what I should do or where I should take it. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Try opening the bleed valve atop the thermostat housing, when cold and engine off of course. If there is air trapped in the system this will vent it out. The best option is to have the cooling system pressure tested. If a leak exists this will expose it. A new reservoir cap will not hurt if not needed, but may solve your disappearing coolant delimma.
I hate to relay my experience to you, but sounds familiar. I was told it is my headgaskets and it is still being fixed after 3 weeks. I guess there are two different headgaskets and they cannot be indentified until engine is torn down. the part comes from Canada................

Just an update. I limped by Dmax out of NewFoundLand and a 2500 Mile journey into Eric at Merchants Auto. Again he cleared the runway for an emergency landing. It is a headgasket problem and the engine is coming out today.
I just can't say enough about Eric and his hospitality. He has let me park my fiver in his lot while the work is being done. Another formum Member "Sandman" was also here and had the same problem on his 2002. Will keep you all updated of the results once teardown is complete.

You are in good hands Gary.......;)
2001's seem to be the year for weak head gaskets.......most of the failures have been 2001's IIRC.
You will be up an running better than ever.........

You're right Tony. Eric has been great to deal with and sure knows his stuff. Engine was removed today and sure enough there was gasket failures on both sides. Engine will be going back in tomorrow. Putting in Trippin head studs and also a new Fuel Pressure regulator.

Gary,
Just got home.....I'm so very glad to here you're going to be up and running soon!! How's the exhaust note? Any different?
Everything worked fantastic...except the long drive. Can't believe how much the EGT's have gone down with the new exhaust.
A very big "Thank You" to you and Anu for visiting...it was extremely nice. Wish I lived closer...It would be very enjoyable to visit and talk truck stuff. Thank you for the advice on potential repairs (The brace will be next) and especially for the vitamin suppliment...I will be using that suppliment to combat my health issue.
Hang on to my info. You are welcome here anytime and if you need help on the road...let me know.
Take Care,
Wayne

Just want to finish this thread off and let everyone on the DPF know about how the vendors on this forum are great and desurve our support. I'd just like to thank Eric at Merchants for clearing eveything aside to help me out with my head gasket problem while on holidays. Eric not only is a class operation, he explains everything and never pushed any extra products on me. There were times in his shop that I was in his way. He waited until I was finished and was a real gentleman. He let me set my fiver up outside the shop and supplied me my power and water. I( was totally a ease while there and all I can say is anyone in the East or anywhere that wants has a problem or wants an upgrade, you should be including Merchants in where you should go to get work done.
I also got to thank Tony & Guy (Trippin) for getting me the upgraded tune the very next day for the Moonshine 30 over injectors. I bought my original Moonshine from them and they have never charged me anything for upgrades. I'm really impressed with my American Brothers!!! Thanks again Eric, Tony, Guy and Mike L.for your support and everything else when the chips were down for me.
