I have a Savana with the Dmax lly and all was going smooth until...

Just did a fuel filter change a couple hundred miles ago and it threw a CEL. I thought it was strange checked the gas cap... drove 50 more miles it went out. It started raining hard two days later... CEL again. Thought maybe something got wet. Decided to take it to dealer next morning, went to start and it was gone. This afternoon it threw it again... took it to the dealer and 45 minutes later the service manager sits down next to me in the waiting room. First words were " We think its the EGR, we have replaced a lot of these lately.) They have to have it one to two days. For a work vehicle this sucks. I thought it was the EGR after reading all the tell tale signs, just over 8k, smelled like it was burning rich, etc.

So my million dollar question is what am I in for? I did a search and saw where some guys had this issue and wanted to know what to expect. I know a lot of guys are saying to put in a blocker plate, but this is just a work van. If they do not fix it and this problem reoccurs, I am going to push for a lemon law recall. I know it would be a pain in the ***, but the only way they will step up is if people start dieing or people raise enough hell, and this isn't a gonna kill people issue.

Any advice or experience is appreciated!

I have an 06' 2500HD DMAX. My CEL came on at about 10K. Took it in and they said it was the EGR valve. Dealer replaced it and have had no problems since.

Do yourself a favor and put a blocker plate and finger stick in. I don't see why it matters if its a work van or not. Put it in and you'll be done with the entire issue. And your motor will thank you for it.

The blocker plate sounds like a great idea for a vehicle. Trust me I do nothing but remove EPA garbage off my bike and any car I plan on building out, but, this is just a regular old work van. Just want to start it up and go, bone stock. If it happens a couple more times I will look into the blocker plate, if I don't drag it back and say third times the charm its yours. I have read they redesigned the EGR a little. I mainly wanted to know if the guys who have had issues keep having them every 8k or so. I feel better that at least one guy has said no more problems.
