: I got Bling!!!New Brute Force intake installed
66flh 09-14-2006, 10:43 PM I got my new-used aem brute put on after work.Seems to have a little more bottom end punch. It'll break the 35's loose easy on #3 without too much effort. It did peg out my restriction gauge though.EGT's seem to be lower too.Boy does it whistle pretty too.Why is it pegging out the gauge though?Any ideas?:ro)

Are you kidding,I'm a fricken Machinest.I can measure and machine things to a .00001,but I get confused with a tape...
I haven't done a intake due to the fact that oil gets on the MAF sensors. and when the get clogged there are supposed to be worse than the stock ones. But thats oil-less. Hmm kind of nice. Looks real good too.

Thats the reason I took the K&N off..
legrizz 09-15-2006, 05:59 AM Do you know if the filter is washable or do you have to buy a new filter when it becomes dirty?
supatrucka 09-15-2006, 06:44 AM It's washable.

My filter gauge will suck in pretty good on mine too. When I put my Predator on 120 for a day it sucked it all the way in. On 65 hp tune it goes half way max. I think it does this just because of where it is mounted. On the stock setup it is on the airbox, not on the tube. Plus the tube on the AEM is 1/2inch narrower. Not an issue though. I was worried about it but it seems to be pretty normal from what I have heard.

1/2" narrower than what? stock or the AFE?

Mark Craig 09-18-2006, 10:43 AM Yaz,
The AFE oil was originally formulated NOT to foul MASS air sensors so you can go with them and not worry etc.

Clark20ry 11-08-2006, 10:52 PM 66 are you still liking your AEM Brute Force???

Clark20ry 11-10-2006, 07:50 AM cool I think I have decided to pick one up... This weekend...
SaguaroKid 11-10-2006, 09:47 AM I like it....:)
I hope your engine doesn't mind the extra dirt it is sucking down it.............
SS396 11-10-2006, 04:14 PM afp1,
These new AEM dry filters are supposed to be very efficient. If you look on their website they link to independent testing reports. I know they may be biased but the numbers don't look bad.
Too bad we can't have Spicer do a new analysis to test some these and other new filter elements.
Yes, we need Spicer to prevail upon his buddy at Testand Corp for another test. I am now running a high enough HP tune (480-500 HP) where I could probably benefit from more air, but I won't do it at the cost of filtration.
I thoink many guys do what I did initially. My experience was with gas engines and they almost always respond to better intakes and exhaust. So I put on a K&N Air Charger on my Dmax the day after I bought it. Then I leaned about how bandly these aftermarket units filter out dirt, and learned there isn't any dyno advantage with a stock turbo to at least 400-450 RWHP.
We need to have Spicer's test as a sticky.
KEVINL 11-10-2006, 07:48 PM I am neither thrilled or disssapointed with mine. I can't really hear the turbo over the straight pipe anyways. If I had it to do over I would have bought something else

Like what? I am torn between the AEM BF and the AFE stage 2
66flh 11-11-2006, 02:02 AM I hope your engine doesn't mind the extra dirt it is sucking down it.............I doubt it.The filter looks to be top quality and when I installed it I smeared some heavy vaccum grease around the inlet passed the filter and after a month of hard use,I wiped it with a Kimwipe today and the gease was clean. Not Scientific, but it works for me.

I just think the factory air box is plenty good if anything I would just put a progard 7 in the factory airbox
hoss06 11-11-2006, 02:53 PM I really like the aftermarket air-intake system. My old stock setup was just too bland. I went with K&N brand and was thoroughly satisfied. Highly recommended!
Clark20ry 11-11-2006, 09:26 PM I just picked up mine today. As soons as I get my truck back from the Body shop I will install it.... Thanks for all the input...

This may shed some light on the issue:
